So what does a 28 page TB thread actually get you?
A blip in the billions of useless terabytes collected...

It gets 27 and a half more pages than when I asked for advice matching a head and cab.
Nobody wants to answer the hard questions... though if you are asking a technical question (i.e. wattage, ohm-age, etc), I am sure its already explained ad nauseum somewhere here. If it was a question of style/taste... thats another issue...
Seriously though, a few years ago Mrs Dope and I took a road trip vacation. Along the way we stopped at The Low End bass shop outside Nashville, Atlanta Bass Gallery, and a few other stores.
Mrs Dope gave me full permission to buy a boutique 5 string up to $5K. I played some beautiful works of art.
But ultimately, I did not buy anything because nothing played or sounded better than my Peavey.
Awesome story Mr. Dope !! I do own an Alembic...
Oh wow, was it "Taco Bell Night"? Otherwise ya might not be sitting that long...A thread this long gets Toilet Time.
Yeah we've already mentioned that one... its just kinda crazy...Oops, got the name wrong, it's Royal Flora Aurum.
so is that the asking price or did it sell for that???what does $25 k get you? Perhaps the tuners from the Ritter 'Floral Autumn' 250 thousand dollar bass? (Yes, a quarter of a million dollars for a bass!) It has gold hardware studded with diamonds, ancient mammoth tusk nut, insane levels of inlay and pretty much over the top everything.... Makes the $25 k job sound like chicken feed.![]()
What a silly thread.
See this chair where I take the pics of my basses?
My chair is a replica, it's not a real Kai Kristiansen, by the way.
What are you really buying for your $25k or whatever? How much better do these crazy expensive boutique basses REALLY sound/play than say the best one from your average music store set up properly? Would anyone else really hear it?
You can get a pretty good DB for $25K. Or you can spend a lot more. There's a $40K DB on TB classifieds right now.
