You could make something that would have similar function fairly easily if you have more time than money. In most cases, just elevation will be enough, without worrying about also creating a pressure zone absorber.

Still, in a studio situation, you may want to go to the trouble. I have a lot of their Studio Traps and they are just this side of magic for recording purposes.

Looks a lot like my design.
I go cheap and cut oval holes for hand holds.
Also use feet with threaded inserts to compensate for uneven floor.

What kind of cab are we talking here?

Either way, I use this. I have used it with a heavy EA 210 and an Epifani with an SVT on top. It's rated for 300 pounds. Quiklok mixer stand. Works like a champ. Puts the top speakers at shoulder blade height.

OP I know prefers non tilt, and that is my preference also, however I just want to share that lately I've been tilting my cab. I just dislike carrying extra stuff. It seems to me that just bu lifting the front a little bit makes a huge difference.
it cuts some of the boominess and provides more clarity. I just put anything I can find in there, even a DI.

Make sure it's cheetah. Zebra in an emergency.

Mountain lion and gazelle are frowned upon.

Just make sure it's real cheetah, and not faux cheetah made from polar bear.

Trying not to cause issues....but a good friend of mine who has been playing Bass for many( 40 +) years told me NOT to use a stand for my cabinet. That I should just let it sit directly on the floor.....resulting in much more low bass sound.

That may have helped out 40 years ago(my era too), it's not really necessary today.

It adds a lot of muddiness that many are trying to control these days. A stand helps reduce that problem.

Milk crates or other storage bins, and use it for the rest of your gear on the way in and out. You can find extra long crates at Home Depot btw. And if you buy the Ridgid brand, they hook into their rolling tool boxes, which make great gear bins too. As a solo musician for swanky events, I got a few pieces of cheap black cotton from the fabric store, four or five 3x6’ pieces, to cover up any unsightly cables, cases, boxes, etc. Surely such a coverup would make your lowly milk crates tolerable to “the union.”

Instead of draping black material over a milk crate or other box type stand, get a thick padded cover from one of the amp/cab cover companies.

It'll look pro and provide separation from the venue floor.

Just use a milk crate with an xxl concert t shirt over it Like your putting a pillow cover on.Then stuff the arm sleeves in one of the holes on either side.Could have one made with your band name on it too.

Your friend doesn't take into account that we're not all looking for that. We want less boom, more clarity.
