If you had a 700/ 800 watt amp (very popular and these days), it would matter, tone is very subjective and the $$$ savings is real. That said, your response is very fair for your situation.

that's about $100 less than the Aguilar. We haven't heard it yet or gotten a US price so it's a bit premature to say the price savings is real and that it's a match for the aguilar (for me anyway). And while I love my big bang amps, i think the genz benz amps sounded better. I got rid of my benz only because support was getting sketchy. MB hasn't knocked it out of the park with me yet. I have to use a preamp in front of it to get a proper treble EQ. And the new amps apparently have the same treble response. So, I'm not automatically convinced everything they come out with will be the best.

To clarify, support is not sketchy for Genz Benz products. There's a factory flat rate service program with 48 hour turnaround time for most Genz Benz products (including ALL class D amps). Plenty of TalkBass members have taken advantage of this program over the years.

I do agree and suggest that you research the product support resources for any product you are looking to purchase, be sure that is works for your own needs.

genz benz is no longer operating so there is no "factory" flat rate service. There is a member here who apparently was a technician or engineer with them who will do repairs at a flat rate which is nice but actual Genz Benz service does not exist.

Well, it just may not be the brand for you.
Don't get me wrong. I hold Aguilar in high regard. And you're right, we haven't heard the new MB gear yet so the jury's out until..
P.S. current MAP for the Aguilar SL112 is $899 so not sure where you only get a $100 differential.

well, if you don't mind trading tone for weight, the mini cmd 121 pure combo seems like a ticket. 22 lbs (and that's both head and cab in one chassis). and a 22 lb external cabinet for more loud occasions.

so, that would be 22/44lbs instead of 25+? and 50+? lbs, let's assume 30 and 55lbs, a 8-9 lb difference, or like between 1/3 and 1/4 of the weight off.

but of course this maths only applies if you count in the head. talking just about the new cabs, for folks already owning a lightweight neo cab, a new mb cab might be not that significant weight relief. after all, GR bass is much lighter (under 17lbs for a 112).

There is still a Genz Benz factory authorized flat rate service program (with 48 hour turnaround time and 90 day warranty) available, I stock all of the factory parts, PCBs (where still available), service documentation and factory support for Fender authorized service centers with an active service center number. This was set up to continue global support to dealers, authorized service centers and end users with the encouragement and direct support of the two previous brand owners (Fender and KMC Music), both of which shared the customer service vision of Jeff Genzler and myself. I have been doing this continuously for Genz Benz products for ~25 years.

I designed these amps, and have the design and manufacturing documentation, factory test fixtures, the experience and the parts in stock.

Perhaps it might be more useful to compare the customer support and service program of a brand that’s been discontinued for 8 years to the customer service and support programs and performance of today's current brands?

Well, geez. To add to the derail above, I'd venture to say Genz Benz products are currently supported as well as or more reliably than some current production brands.

I've used the service program. From initial contact to receiving my amp back was I think about 10 business days. This includes shipping from Kentucky to California and back in the month of December when shippers are getting absolutely railed. I wouldn't hesitate at all to suggest GB as a option for someone looking for an amp! They also hold value pretty well compared to many products of the same age. I sure couldn't/ wouldn't say that about SWR or Carvin.

+1,000. I purchased a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 9.2 used. It had a few annoying small problems. I sent it to CA for repair as part of the Genz Benz factory flat rate service program. It came back to me after 48-hour turnaround, good as new.

I've been using it as my primary woodshed, recording, and performance amp for several years now, with full tone and reliability. I appreciate that the service program is in place. Even more, I appreciate @agedhorse supporting me and the bass community with his substantial devotion, experience, expertise, and positive demeanor. (Thanks, Andy!) It's no wonder that his presence at Mesa has been so successful and prolific.

MarkBass and many other vendors could learn substantially from this level of customer support and service. Its value far outweighs flashy market promos and plethora flash-in-the-pan product lines.
