That would seem to make a 20 lb cab or a 25 lb combo distinct possibilities. Colour me extremely interested.

Regarding the "R"
("Don't know what the R means"):
A Markbass 104HF has front ports.
A Markbass 104HR has rear ports.
This naming designation is used throughout their line.

Good point, well spotted.
So, we may have a graphite, rear ported 8x5” cab, 900-1000 W, around the 20 lb mark, and maybe a corresponding combo, about 800 W, 25 lb. I’d love a combo four drivers wide and two tall, with a design that can tilt back like my CMD102P (but with eight 5” drivers, they can skip the piezo for me).
Ha ha, I’m probably way off. But if that’s close, I’m definitely in.

I can see the value of reliability, of course. But if you mean a company continuing to make something after you bought, it, why care? If Fender stopped making P basses tomorrow, I’d still love mine - perhaps even more so.
Besides, I can see no reason at all for the hyper-negativity of assuming a new piece of gear from Markbass will become obsolete quickly. That just sounds like some strange case of sour grapes.
It’s sort of pleasing that Markbass are still making the same model that I bought over 16 years ago, albeit with a few minor changes. I remember some guy had a little outfit in a small factory unit down in South Wales and he was importing Markbass stuff from Italy long before it was on general sale elsewhere. I drove about 160 miles to go and pick mine up, after trying it out in the guy’s little office for about 5 minutes. I paid £600, which seemed a bit pricey at the time (I think they’re about £860 now). But I immediately fell in love with the thing and bought it anyway. Definitely one of the best pieces of gear I’ve ever had and it’s certainly paid for itself in gig earnings many times over.

MAS or Michael Arnopol Soundworks and others have used and experimented with light weight materials other than plywood, he even did fiberglass for a while.
I am not sure why building material used is a "Only GR" or "Like GR". Did people do that when builders went to MDF in the 90's or with the thin ply that most use now?
No one can use Poplar Ply because that is what Mesa use in their Subway cabs?
Carbon Fiber and Graphite ply is a building material, GR was just the first to put it into mass (kind of) production for the bass community.
Golf clubs, car parts, them new non leather wallets, jewelry like rings, sunglasses frames, writing pens, cigar lighters, bottle opener, as well as many home decor items like shelves, bowls and such have been made for a long time.
Do a search for Carbon Fiber Items, their are a loooot.
Bookshelf speakers have been around for a long time.
Found a carbon fiber speaker.
Speaker City sells speakers, drivers, audiophile loud Supreme 6" Carbon Fiber Woofer
Even found a carbon fiber Storm Trooper helmet.

It is just a building material for those willing to pay.

There is, of course, no reason why any bass cab manufacturer other than GR shouldn’t use the material - as long as they don’t claim that they did it first.
As an italian, I must say that MB complete lack of aesthetic decency makes me feel ashamed. I can't even watch that horrible poster, as well as their products.
Others here, including myself, feel differently and, FWIW, I'm Italian too. We embrace the black and yellow. Viva Italia!!

He's collecting all the Ferrari anniversary cars in yellow. Quick F40, F50, and Enzo content in this one, along with some other classics.
Ferrari is a true passion of mine. Can't afford one yet, but I still love their cars. Also the F1 team! My wife and I went to the Miami Grand Prix last month.
Was hoping for a another Ferrari/Leclerc win, but Max and Red Bull are going to take this season again, I believe.I stopped at Prestige Imports, one of my favorite dealerships while were down there. Along with 3 Bugattis, 3 Paganis, a Senna (not Italian, but this one WAS yellow and black), and tons of other stuff, there was this great lineup of V8 Ferrari cars with a little yellow peaking out towards the back of the pack.
I do love the flair and passions the Italians have for design and excitement... from cars to leather goods to dinner... I'm here for it all!
