Indeed, although let's not forget that Bose were producing high performance (for the time) 8 x 4½" in the '70s, so the idea of multiple small drivers is far from novel.
In the early '80s I had the pleasure of playing in a few venues that had modest Bose 800 systems as permanent installations. The results were impressive, although the backline bass amp still had to do a bit of heavy lifting to really carry the room.
I'm sure some modern drivers combined with good cab design could create some real volume and power handling with good low-end extension. On paper at least, 8 of these could approach 1000W for just under 16lbs and be no more than a couple of feet tall. Combined with ultralight composite-based enclosures who knows what might be possible:

That's it. I was thinking at page 1 that is was going to be a 5" 80w combo. This Faital driver makes me 98% sure that's it.
