The Steven Soderbergh remake of Oceans 11 features some killer up-front bass playing by Robert Hurst.
I really enjoyed the soundtrack in 2 Guns. It's been a few years (can't believe that was 2013) but I got to watch it at the sound studio that mixed it. I remember bass being a big part of the soundtrack with a really nice tone.
The soundtrack to The Rocky Horror Picture Show featured some really cool bass playin.
Yep - really cool bass lines (played this for a local theater a couple of years ago).
The soundtrack to the film Hair has great bass playing courtesy of Wilbur Bascomb.
Alan Spenner play some great playing on the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack.

Can any of you tell me WHO plays that mixed-way-up-front bass part in 'You're the One That I Want' from the GREASE soundtrack? I've always admired that bumping little part, the bass part not often featured that way.

There was a movie I saw long ago called the "Emerald Forrest". I really enjoyed this movie and buried deep within the soundtrack is some killer bass playing.

I feel like any and every late 80's early 90's cop movie has some great synth bass lines

J Wilson, Toto's David Hungate played bass on that track.
The Heavy Metal (1981) movie had some greats on there. Geezer, Abraham Laboriel, Will Lee, Ross Valory and Grand Funk's bassist kills on Queen Bee.

4003, Thank You ! I've heard that for years and always wondered. I'd of course assumed it was some LA-area session guy, and I was right. Just never ran across the credits.
Jackie Brown has a great soundtrack... lots of 70s soul music.
Film scores are a different beast... rarely do we hear good, upfront electric playing on those.

Was reminded of this today when reading some eulogies for Toots Hibbert: The Harder They Come Soundtrack has some tasty bass playing.
