Yes.

Just seen that the pedal is RTS. That is likely the problem. Does it have a polarity switch inside? Either that or you might need a cable to invert it.
I'll check the input option tonight when I'm back home.

Regarding the pedal, it has two separate outputs, TRS and RTS. I understand that if I use a TRS cable with the RTS out, that's equivalent to invert the cable, right?
Anyway with the TRS out it doesn't work at all. With the RTS out it works, in this "switchy" way for now.
Thank you!

A standard cable won’t invert the polarity. The assignment of what signal goes to what part of the jack is done in the device. So you’re still sending an inverted signal compared to what the C4 expects.

I don't think I get it, sorry.
In the attached image you can see the pedal outputs wiring.
Even using the RTS out should I use an inverted cable? But if I internally invert the wiring of the cable, shouldn't I use the TRS output in that case?
Sorry, I'm so dumb with electronics...

The cable is the same for both. Internally in the cable, the ring at one end is wired to the ring at the other end. Likewise, the tip at one end os wired to the tip in the other end.

The polarity switch in the pedal simply chooses whether the potentiometer signal gets sent to the tip or to the ring of your cable.

The C4 requires a TRS configuration. (Probably made more complex because it actually uses a TRRS connector.)

@rsmith601 I know in the instructional video from many moons ago, the MPOW bluetooth device was discussed and used in order to connect to the neuro app over bluetooth, but there was an issue once an update happened, which i think primarily affected android users if i'm not mistaken. Would that MPOW device work currently with iPhones still, or is there another bluetooth device that people are using that work well for this purpose with the iphone?

Good question. I tested a few of them over 2 years ago and the MPow worked fine. Some did not. I know we have folks doing this, but don't know which brands are preferred.

Similar question for WIDI devices by CME?

I haven’t tested the usb mode yet (haven’t gotten around to getting one) the WIDI jacks have worked pretty well with one series stuff, somehow even without external power (I’m not sure how that is, there’s no phantom power on the one series), but didn’t have much luck with soleman and hub without external power.

to clarify, can the widi jack be used to connect the pedal to the neuro app over Bluetooth?

Same question. I'm already successfully using Jacks and Masters with pedals in normal MIDI usage, but I was curious about app connectivity.

Solved.
The solution was indeed an inverted cable (I used the RCA trick) from the RTS output.
I still don't get why this is different from a normal cable from the TRS output, but nor really care, as far as my foot moves and parameters happily sweep.
Thanks Quatschmacher for your time and patience!

The reason is that little port is trying to do so many different things at one time, and support both analog and digital signals. Making it work with a 3rd party EXP was something we added years after it was created, hence it works but its not perfect. On our larger pedals we have a dedicated EXP port and of course that has few limitations.

About doing many different things at one time. this pedal is a masterpiece.
Thanks for developing such an existing device.

Strangest thing just happened.. my C4/dmc micro worked fine yesterday. I just tried to plug in and the C4 lights up but no sounds are coming out, just clean bass. I can scroll on the micro, but nothing is coming out of the pedal. When i go straight through the pedal (no micro), switching presets with the toggle switch still yields no sounds. I have lights, no sounds.

Do I need to do a factory reset on the pedal? I have a full weekend of gigs coming up, any advice would be great..

I've had this happen a few times in the past. Usually turning it off and back on again fixes the issue. Has never happened during a gig luckily.

Alright, so I've been super digging TouchOSC! Really opens things up. So far I've been using PC messages, but think I'm going to delve into CC messages. The relevant reason for this post is that I want to control Harmony Key, Harmony Mode, Harmony Interval 1, and Harmony Interval 2 with my CC messages. I found the MIDI mapper in the desktop Neuro app and was able to map these four parameters to CC slots, but couldn't find anything about how the values map.

For instance, if you send a CC message that's mapped to scale, is 0 = A, 1 = A#, etc? I can certainly play with this, but if something like this already exists that'd be way easier. Trying to parse out A major from A lydian, etc, while just listening to three fixed voices could be a bit of an undertaking!

Values map from the bottom item in the drop-down to the top in the order of 0-x (where x is the number of option minus 1).

It’s not the most logical. Also, there are gaps in some of the parameter lists which still haven’t been addressed (as this is a low priority task).

Cool, this helps a lot.

Just to make sure I'm getting it, can I run an example by you? I don't have my C4 on me, so I'll make up an example list. Say the dropdown list is (from top down) Ape, Bat, Cat, Dog, Elephant. Assuming no gaps, if I wanted to call Dog, that would be item 2 from the bottom, so I would send 1, correct?

Correct. Elephant would be 0, dog would be 1 and so on.

Do you guys know of any good C4 presets that could act as a sustained pad? Something similar to this:

May be out of scope for the C4 but doesn't hurt to try.

Gimme a couple of days and I'll record some pads that I've been creating with my bass. You won't get one patch on the C4 to do the kind of multi textural stuff in your link. There's a lot of layers, samples, LPF and verbs going on there. However a good start is "Stringish", "G Pad" patches. I've edited these to my own patch, which I'll get around to publishing soon. It's a start. You will want to put it through a low pass filter to take the top end harshness off. I've done this in my C4 patch and assigned the LPF to the expression pedal. You will want to pass it through some kind of modulation like a big quad chorus. Then add some crystals (I use a H9) but the Collider has great options. Then into a nice big delay (Nemesis). From there you want a sweet reverb, I use a Hall or Carnie patches from my 2nd H9. One big pad. I use my EQ2 with an expression pedal. This acts a big volume swell, low pass filter or mid dip EQ depending on my selected patch). You can certainly get in the ball park and something that sounds nice and ethereal. Another option is to take out the chordal harmoniser on the C4 patch and pass it to a +3rd and 5th harmoniser on my H9...that's nice too.
But you won't get the delicacy from just the C4, but it make s great source pad to work on.
