source audio c4

Gimme a couple of days and I'll record some pads that I've been creating with my bass. You won't get one patch on the C4 to do the kind of multi textural stuff in your link. There's a lot of layers, samples, LPF and verbs going on there. However a good start is "Stringish", "G Pad" patches. I've edited these to my own patch, which I'll get around to publishing soon. It's a start. You will want to put it through a low pass filter to take the top end harshness off. I've done this in my C4 patch and assigned the LPF to the expression pedal. You will want to pass it through some kind of modulation like a big quad chorus. Then add some crystals (I use a H9) but the Collider has great options. Then into a nice big delay (Nemesis). From there you want a sweet reverb, I use a Hall or Carnie patches from my 2nd H9. One big pad. I use my EQ2 with an expression pedal. This acts a big volume swell, low pass filter or mid dip EQ depending on my selected patch). You can certainly get in the ball park and something that sounds nice and ethereal. Another option is to take out the chordal harmoniser on the C4 patch and pass it to a +3rd and 5th harmoniser on my H9...that's nice too.
But you won't get the delicacy from just the C4, but it make s great source pad to work on.
This is exactly what I've been looking for on the C4..I'm starting to play Ambient Bass and I'm sure the C4 has lots of cool sounds that can be layered with delay and reverbs for long ethereal pads..I didn't find any patches that cover this style...

Where do people have their C4 in the signal chain?IWhat mode do you have the C4 in..Buffered or Bypass?I have mine first in front of the amp..Then I have effects pedals in my effects loop...

After my comp, before my outboard preamps. The 2nd preamp is mostly used for solo volume boost and always on HPF. Pedals are wired starting on the right, ending on the left. C4 is in true bypass.

Do you have it in true bypass mode or buffer?

I currently have it as buffered, but, Im not sure if it matters with how I am using it in the FxLoop.

I keep the C4 always on. Then I use MIDI commands from the QC to change presets on the C4 and to turn the FxLoop block on and off. So essentially everything is mapped to a single footswitch on the QC:

When I hit footswitch A it turns on an FxLoop block (bringing in the C4 to the chain and changes the preset on the C4 to my "Moog" preset. Then if I hit footswitch B it turns on the FxLoop block and changes the C4 preset to my Octaver (OC-2) preset. All other footswitches turn the FxLoop block off and do their own things. So if I am on footswitch B, the go to H (Dirt) the FxLoop block is turned off (and therefore the C4 is "off" essentially) so forth and so on. With this flow I can keep the pedal itself on all the time.

I will have to experiment with True Bypass to see if I experience a difference.

Tuner > Compressor > C4 > everything else (i.e. multi FX).

I think you can kind of tame the C4's envelope follower in some cases by using some compression beforehand, get it to respond in a more consistent way.

FX comes after the C4 because it just seems more useful to be able to say put a reverb or chorus on your synth sound.

I have the C4 in true bypass purely because my tuner is buffered and that's before it.
I've tried both though, and tbh I can't hear any difference.

I've found it useful to use MIDI in a similar way.

I have an HX Stomp that sends CC to the C4 for every HX preset... so every Stomp preset has a corresponding C4 preset (which might in some cases simply be a bypass). There's also a looper pedal which has corresponding CC triggered presets in the same way.

So in essence the Stomp is the boss of all the presets.

I then have the looper providing MIDI clock to both the Stomp and the C4. The looper defaults to tempo from may DAW if it sees it, or it's internal clock otherwise.

All works really nicely!

I have mine first in the chain and I think I changed to buffered but honestly couldn't really tell a difference when I tried both modes, probably because of my other pedals.
I've got a loop of MF-101 with octaver right after it and then I have a compressor. I originally tried to have compressor first buy the envelope filters in C4 and MF-101 were not reacting correctly.

I've published a C4 Pre-Set called "GMC Pad 1". Which is the core synth / strings patch. I would advise an expression pedal to control the low pass filter to taste, unfortunately this function can't be mapped to a control knob. To be honest...if you are using a C4...you really need to add an expression pedal to it as there are a number of things that you can only really do with an EXP pedal attached. The best method is via Midi...so you save the port for the hub. If you have a faderfox, then it's an easy map of one of the knobs to the right midi CC map value. It's important that the C4 is early in your chain with the LPF. This dulls down the pad and gives the Crystals some space and chance to breathe. The crystals needs to be unfiltered, but reacting to the pad input. Ideally, Stereo. The Chorus is next in the chain and this is a stereo patch, it's got a narrow Q +9db boost at 3Khz which will make the crystals really sparkle through the sound space. Then into the Nemesis for some long ambient delays, followed by an optional big verb.
I've also published the stereo Quad Chorus pre-set that I was using on my Lunar - "GMC PAD1 Quad Chorus". And the Diffuse setting on my Nemesis - "GMC PAD1 - Diffuse". all three are published under my community name of GazzaJagman.
I used a pair of generic H9 patches, Crystals (mix down to about 40%) and Carnegie verb. Both of these have similar effects in the SA world. Helix on the Nemesis or Shimmer on the Ventris could be used. The E-dome on the Ventris could easily be used for the big Verb.
Brilliant!!! Kudos @GMC.

For those not using an expression turn off the external control switch at the bottom.

I have a kind of weird scenario and I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction; I have a c4 and an alexander neo delay. the c4 is using an expression pedal but I also want to tie the delay exp out onto the same expression pedal. What I guess I'm looking for is some type of Y cable that's 1/4" TRS RIGHT ANGLE male to dual TRS 1/4" female. I wouldnt be using the delay and patches on the c4 where both would be expression controlled so it i would think this setup would work as being a poor man's dual expression.

Has anyone ever encountered this kind of adapter in the wild? I have not found much luck checking around online. Would this even work?

If I'm reading right, it appears that your alexander neo delay can be controlled via midi with that side port. If you have a midi controller and the right cables, you could run your pedal to the controller and use the expression pedal on both in that way.
But I'm still new to MIDI and running into all sorts of ideas that don't quite pan out. Best of luck!
