That won’t work, you’ll need a micro ghost for the second usb device, one host for each pedal. Or you can just use the neuro cable plugged into the multi jack of the dmc as has been mentioned as a new option with the dmc.
Oh cool..So plug the neuro cable from input 2 on the C4 to the multi jack on the DMC...And plug a midi cable from the Red Panda to the midi jack on the DMC using my ghost cable...Are the steps on the DMC to get C4 midi the same as in this video?

No the 1/8” connection goes to the control input, and the 1/4 connection goes to the multi jack.
 
Ok I haven't got the DMC yet..I didn't know the Multi Jack was 1/4 inch.great..thanks...but also what I was asking are the procedures on the DMC micro setting up the C4 exactly the same as this video?
You’ll have to set the jack channel to match whichever channel you have the C4 on (A,b,c,d) and then set the multi jack function to midi ring.

OK, tech question for those who are interested in taking a stab at it...

I'm possibly putting together a smaller board with no real midi support, but I want to use a C4 on this board. (and multiple patches).

So, I've got a C4 in route, and I've got a Disaster Area DMC.micro PRO also in route, I've watched the vids, and I get how to set those two devices up, but....

Obviously the C4 won't be on all the time, and there won't be a effect switcher involved (like a Boss ES-5 for example), so do I set up a patch with the device “off” and save it to say 128? Effectively making patch 128 an “off command”??

I feel like there's another way around this, but I'm drawing a blank...Yes, obviously I could just stomp on the button to turn the C4 off manually, I was just hoping to control it from the DMC.micro exclusively.

Thoughts?

The C4 can be set to recall preset in its scroll mode in the on or off state (you hold down the left footswitch in a scroll bank to change the bypass state), P mode is programmed using the scroll banks, so it would then load the preset and whether it is on or off in whatever order you program.
 
I've had this happen a few times in the past. Usually turning it off and back on again fixes the issue. Has never happened during a gig luckily.
I can confirm this. Two C4 pedals which I have currently for testing are occasionally freezing into being unresponsive. Sometimes it happens on initial power up, sometimes in the middle of selection of presets or editing. They then will require power cycling to become responsive again. I wonder if any of the Source Audio reps have taken notice of this issue. I will likely return the pedals because of this problem. It's simply too unreliable.

Are they getting enough current? If they get less than the stated amount then much weirdness can ensue.

Thanks a lot for your thought! I suppose they are getting sufficient current. I have supplied power from a dedicated output of 300 mA from a PowerPlant ISO-12 Pro.
Do you know if that particular power supply ramps the power when switched on? The Strymon Zuma does this and it can cause problems with certain SA pedals as they get starved of power at boot-up. Try unplugging the power from the C4 before you power on the supply, then plug the power cable back into the C4 and see if the problem persists.

I have occasionally had problems with the desktop app where it freezes but if you restart the app and hit the wrench button, it will refresh the screen with the current pedal settings.

Yep, I did notice that, which is why a mentioned it in my initial post...

And you are absolutely right, however I've been tossing around the concept of building a small tiered board, and the plan was to maybe have the C4, a compressor & the power supply mounted under the second tier, making stomping on the C4 on/off button rather inconvenient mid song (or any other time for that matter)

It might be worth backing up the pedals and then reflashing the latest firmware too, just in case it got corrupted.

Just to let you know: I checked the firmware and although I had not gotten any yellow alerts in the Neuro Desktop app the C4 firmware was indeed outdated on 1.19. Weird enough Neuro still claimed I was already updated...I performed the update manually anyway by picking 1.20 from the "hardware update" folder. Curious to see if that will help the stability in addition.

I've also noticed with my Source Audio gear that they don't like to be attached to a PC's USB ports via a USB hub. Some USB hubs seem to be more glitchy than others. I have a USB hub that they now seem happy with, however not all hubs are equal! Also some PC/s laptops get a bit overwhelmed with a lot of USB devices attached and a lot of USB activity. I'm not very convinced that the USB 3 format is particularly stable or trust worthy. My DAW is USB powered and can get a bit unstable with a lot of USB activity.

I personally find that my Neuro hub is the least stable of my Source Audio gear. I find that my Neuro hub can lock up when it's attached to the Neuro Desktop via USB and it then receives a signal via Midi. I find that my Neuro hub is happiest with a cold reboot after attaching to the Neuro Desktop. If I flick back and forth between devices in the Neuro Desktop, my Neuro hub is the most likely to freeze up. If this happens then all of my attached devices become uncontrolled and unresponsive to midi inputs.
If I flick between my Ultrawave and C4 a lot in the Neuro Desktop, not allowing enough time for the UI and setting to stabilise, I can get lockups with either device. Sometimes when I export a patch, I get a blank export.

I use a Strymon Ojai PSU and I've had a few issues with power up compatibility, particularly with the EQ2 when using the 5 pin Midi Din ports. The C4 has quite a large power requirement when it is first powered up from a cold start. The Strymon PSU like to ramp up the power as a slow power up and can starve the power feeds. The later Firmware patches from SA address a lot of these issues. I also find that SA pedals in general like isolated and high current power feeds. They maybe small in size, but they are DSP power stations!

Ah, that probably explains my past issues as I’m using a Strymon Ojai as my power supply. Hasn’t happened in a while though so maybe the updates have fixed the issue. Thanks for the info

Total longshot but I had my C4 freezing for this reason:
I had both inputs running to a patch panel in the side of my pedalboard.
I'd only ever use input 1, but liked the idea of having input 2 in the same patch panel as I could have all my pedals squashed up together but still be able to access it if needed.
Because input 2 is also the control input, SA suggested it might not like having the cables floating around not terminating to a source.
Sure enough, removing the 2nd input from the patch panel solved it.
Seems totally stable now.
