Absolutely you need to adjust the input to your bass before making a judgement. Most of my patches were made using a passive P or J but the ones prefixed by "Bath" were done on a Stingray so need adjusting up for passive basses.

I mentioned it in case some who are new to it may not have realized that. I have my pedal board set up to have the same signal level from different basses at the start. The Shure wireless receiver remembers its gain setting for each transmitter. But sometimes I will bump the volume up or down to vary the effect and compensate the volume to the amp with the board limiter output +/-dB control.

This is only while learning to use the C4. If I needed the same patch with different response for two different songs in a gig I would have it saved twice with the patch adjusted per song.

I imagine I will eventually have the Hub and multiple MIDI pedals with scenes set up. Preferably controlled by the songlist tablet. Or maybe not.

+1, Adjusting Community patches to our own personal setups is a must. The discussion pops up in these threads on occasion, and is worth the reminder.

This is my only minor quibble with the C4. I wish the input calibration control was global, instead of per patch. The Future Impact's input knob is set up that way and it's super handy. One quick adjustment for whatever bass I'm playing, and all my patches sound the way they're supposed to, rather than having to adjust each patch individually.

Disclaimer: just to be clear, it's a really small issue... I run my compressor before my C4 and problem solved!

If there were enough code space left it might be possible to add an optional global input level override. Basically a menu option which, when enabled, would ignore the input level set in the patch and apply a globally-applied input level to all patches. Though as I’m sure @rsmith601 will tell us, there probably isn’t enough spare code. Might be worth bearing in mind for future products though.
