After owning the VT Deluxe, I am certain that one could cover about 75% of the VT Bass sounds with the OFD. I also found the gain and character knobs on the VT added some hiss which the OFD does not. Even without the gate kicked in, it is pretty quiet.

Got it a couple of days ago, and it is definitely going to push some pedals off the board. Not quite as fantastic as some of my pedals, but really pretty close and the EQ gives you a lot of flexibility. Given the size, the variety of types of distortion/overdrive covered and how great it sounds, it's a keeper.

Glad you like it. I found that if I went of just the sound and not the "Sex Appeal" of the other pedals on my board, the OFD won hands down. The only pedals I can't emulate with the OFD are the TAFM and B7K.

just got the OFD's big brother in today. WOW! iike it just as much as the OFD, (and maybe more!)
with it's 7 band eq (now switchable for bass) and newly added clean blend, this thing is a monster for use with a bass. it also has pre and post drive controls and a dedicated mid boost knob. it really is saweet!

the clean blend is accessed via the back page menu.

Yep, I've been posting about the Classic Pro on here for years. The OFD is voiced a little differently and the blend functions differently also, but if you want a distortion the cuts thru the mix like a laser and have absolutely zero hiss, the Classic pro cannot be beat. That said, the different voice keeps the Classic pro from matching the popular favors of bass distortions that have been mentioned in this thread. SA has done an amazing job of not just cloning the Classic pro but really crafting a Swiss-army knife of bass distortions with the OFD, but if you want crunchy guitar type tones, go Classic pro. Or if space on your board isn't an issue.....both ;)

the classic pro's current manual doesn't show the extended (bass) eq mode or the clean blend feature, but the newly updated pedal definitely has it.

above the last two eq bands you can see the [CM] and [OD] symbols. the [CM] stands for Clean Mix and the [OD] stands for graphic eq Octave Down.

i'll have to get out my diesel dawg and see if I can get the same tones with the OFD or the CDPro, but i'm pretty sure that I can get either one pretty darn close.
