I have a Line6 M5 and X3 Live and it works to change Hub scenes since it sends out a matching MIDI PC (patch change) command with each patch you select/recall on the Line6 device.
One potential downside is the Line6 boxes also send out MIDI CC (control change) depending on which, if any, effects are enabled in the Line6 patch you just selected. These are hard coded into the Line6 boxes, you cannot modify them, nor disable them.
Similarly the Hub will utilize inbound MIDI CC to control various parameters on the various SB2 pedals. Currently these are hard coded, you cannot modify them, nor disable them.
So, it's possible that the Delay effect on your Line6 box might happen to be mapped to the Bypass on your OFD, thus disabling the OFD. I'm not saying that's the case, I'm just giving a potential (theoretical) example. All of the Line6 MIDI CC is clearly documented, as well as all of the Source Audio SB2 MIDI CC. So it would be easy to cross reference what might conflict in that regard.
For the Line6 M5 you can just set a Volume Pedal effect in the Line6 and I believe it has no corresponding Source Audio MIDI CC. So then the M5 functions purely as a MIDI controller (and tuner). As a bonus the Line6 M5 supports patch names. Downside is it only supports 24 patches and is slightly larger than a Tech21 MIDI Mouse.
You can also send MIDI PC from any other device that supports sending MIDI PC. I've used the following devices:
* Line6 M5
* Line6 X3 Live
* Roland GR-55 guitar synth
* Roland TD-6 V-drum brain
* Reaper
* A variety of computer based MIDI tools such as MIDISwing
Lots of options. Don't let MIDI confuse you, it's simply a communication protocol. Once you understand the basics it all makes sense. Somewhere there has to be a MIDI 101 beginners video on YouTube or something that explains it all as simply as possible.
