Source Audio Programmable EQ

I used this eq at band practise the other night. We use in ears and go direct. I went into a boss compressor-tuner-fdeck hp filter-bad monkey overdrive-bass vt and last was the eq. It sounded like my live rig in the in ears. Today I ran my very nice martin dc-28e into it and perfected my acoustic/electric sound! I've got an acoustic bass on the way and expect more of the same. This is the only eq pedal that I have ever loved, much less liked! Good job guys!

I'm getting one of these in the near future, and really excited about it. It seems from the manual that reversing the footswitch (single click to cycle presets, hold to switch off) isn't currently possible. What's the likelihood of this happening in a future firmware update? I don't plan on ever turning it off, and this would be much easier for live performance.

Good suggetion. It is not likely that we will make any changes to the pedal for a while. Soundbox 2, redesign of the Hot Hand MIDI, and a long list of other items have the engineering department swamped for the next 9 months or so.

it is controllabe with midi, look at the Midi Mouse, it'll let you scroll thru presets with your foot.

Edit: sorry I didn't understand the 'reversing the switch'. You can scroll,with your foot. Oops

Wait, so more Soundblox2 pedals are coming?!?! And I tought the HH3 was the new HotHand Midi, but there will be a new one of those too. Wow, cool. Keep the midi stuff comin!!

Edit: we'll, I didn't notice how old Rogers post was, or this thread. The HH3 is the new Midi, haha. I got really excited about the idea of more new SA goodies.

That's a shame. I'd love to see a programmable EQ that's parametric, rather than graphic. I'd be much more likely to buy that than the current graphic model.

I suppose that's wishful thinking ....

The number of people on the planet who are capable of dealing with a parametric EQ is not very many. Even the Chid here at Source Audio thinks they are confusing and difficult.....especially in pedal format.

I have a BMC from EWS. Single-band semi-parametric (boost/cut + centre frequency). Love it, and I've got used to what boost and cut at 400, 600, 800 sound like. (I'd be lucky to get two of those out of a graphic EQ pedal.)

It's not a big step from that to a two or three-band semi-parametric, and then make it programmable. Okay, the last is a big step for the technology that goes into a pedal, but not for using it. (?)

If you're talking about fully parametric ... yes, I can see that adding Q as a variable could get confusing. It's not easy to get used to, too many variables. But semi-parametric definitely works for me.

My 5 cents on the SA Programmable EQ.

Positives:
+ Small, compact, slender ;).
+ 4 programmable presets.
+ 8 bands
+ Master volume per each preset (brilliant and a must have)

Negatives:
- More time-consuming to dial in due to no physical sliders.
- Have to scroll the EQ scale 1 step when using 8 bands.
...dunno

So i guess the pros vs. the cons are designer (and consumer) choices. Having it digital, LED-based (with no physical sliders) allow for 4 presents and still maintain a compact size.
The pros are the reasons i bought it. I had only seen it on YouTube when buying it, but I am really happy with it sound-wise and use it extensively now.

Well, I think most people would use an eq pedal as 'always on'. So remembering it's last state would be a plus for some and a disadvantage for those who use it as a boost, etc.

Can't please everyone.

I have used this EQ for several month, per previous discussion, it is useful on per song basis, I like to use programmable EQ to make my tone more scoop.

For me the only negative is 8 band frequency shifting design, this is a confusing design for some new users.

Thanks for testing the power-on issue :)

Yup, you have clearly defined the size/preset vs physical slider trade-off. Nice to see the trade-off yielded a few more positives than negatives :)
