I was alluding to this earlier---there seems to be some version control issues regarding what comes with the pedals, what is on the website, etc.

Yes, that is our dropbox. We had some issues with the web site, so the drop box was used to keep TB uber-users up and running!

Fair enough, and we definitely appreciate that. However, as I pointed out earlier, one of my pedals had a higher version number than the version that was with the Hub. My December-delivered OFD was version 4 (as detected by the Hub) but the download with the Hub (also made in December) was only version 3---I couldn't find version 4 anywhere on the website to confirm that it existed, other than my Hub telling me that's what my OFD was running. It seems like the downloads on the Hub page should be at least as current as the versions the pedals are shipping with.

EDIT: I sort of glossed over the fact that you were actually having website trouble. I hope my comments didn't come off as too critical.

The next generation, SB3 pedals, should have wifi built-in and connect to the internet by themselves to update. Like everything else in this world (my home static DHCP table looks like that of a Fortune 500 Corporate office).

Of course, that might be the first step that kickstarts the process of creating the Singularity. Then, freedom fighters will travel from the future to stop Source Audio.

Great to hear that there's Stereo on everything. I would really love to have the option to have separate wet/dry output on the OFD-ish pedal, or even two wet outputs. It's my always-on pedal, so I'd like to split that signal, send one to the MWBD and Manta, and send the other straight to the interface for recording so I have separate wet and dry blends in case I want to adjust the ratio in post-processing.

Something I'm curious about - would there be enough processing power to apply two different distortions and send out to wet/dry?

Also, would you be able to control the L/R mix separately? For example, applying hothand wobble only to one side so you can have a sub-bass wobble on one by applying hothand to amount of distortion, and an 'octave up' track on the other by using an octave up fuzz and cutting all the lows (and perhaps running it through the Nemesis delay and Dimension Reverb to fill out the space). That could really make for cool bass solo tracks.

You know how sometimes I've mentioned I want to post stuff but I'm waiting to get a better version recorded? Well I wasn't going to post this song yet until we had a better recorded version, but I sent in a demo of one of my band's originals to a local songwriting competition and they uploaded it to their soundcloud for voting so I thought I might as well share it here as well.

I'm using all my Source Audio pedals in this ambient epic-rock ballad. My chain is

Bass -> wireless
-> Guitar OFD for a tinge of dirt/harmonics, emphasizes the attack a bit more and slight compression
-> MWBD2 with an octave up distortion blended with my clean bass
-> Hothand controlled low pass filter in the earlier parts of the song
-> Zoom MS60B for some EQing
-> Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 head for the preamp, then line out direct to my H4n for recording

The pedals are controlled by the Hub, but I don't usually do active switching during songs.

This one is just a demo so it's not that polished yet. Drums are sequenced and all the other parts were DIY recorded and I did a rough mix of it. My band is going into the studio to record this and another song later this month. Let me know what you guys think of it and any suggestions and stuff you might have!



p.s. expect a professionally recorded version of this in a couple of month's time. I also have some better tracks from my band in the bandcamp link in my sig, but they don't really feature the Source Audio stuff that much, just some light drives or distortions.

I haven't read the whole thread (surely I can be forgiven!) but I have a few Hub-related questions:

Can the Hub send PC messages out of the MIDI port to change patches on a third-party unit?

More specifically: Could the Hub Manager could be used to set up custom messages to send OUT in response to what comes IN, rather than just repeating incoming data to its output?

The manual says data arriving at the IN is passed THRU, does that include MIDI Clock and PC, and is there anything in the Hub Manager to allow the user to filter out some types of messages?

Finally I read that tempos are saved per patch. If I send a new tapped tempo and then change patch is that always going to change tempo to whatever was saved in the patch I just selected, or is there any way to set it up so that tapped tempos continue to override patch settings?

You are forgiven!

I can only help answer your last question:
If your SB2 pedal has 1 of the 2 pedal presets saved in tap tempo mode, and then you use that side to save a patch with the hub, then the tempo of that patch will be same as whatever midi clock is being sent to it. This is assuming you are using an external device for Tap tempo through midi. If there is no tap tempo being sent to the Hub, then I believe the Hub will recall the tempo it was saved at.

All of the SB2 pedals only sync with 1/4 notes though. I've requested several times for the ability to adjust the sync with the time knobs. I would love if you could choose: whole, half, dotted 1/4, 1/8, 1/8 triplet, dotted 1/8, 1/16, etc.

There was mention of an update like this, but it has not happened yet.

Well hey, @jasonmitsch handled the second question, but I can mostly answer the first!

For the MIDI questions, the Hub will either send its own MIDI stuff (expression and Hot Hand via MIDI, for example), or it will do MIDI through. Maybe 50 pages ago I asked about merging those MIDI signals and I was told it wasn't possible. So based on that and my own experience, I strongly doubt there are any "filtering" options. However, if you want the Hub to generate its own output (expression/HH3; that is, you don't select "thru") it will still pass tempo and other CC through to the SB2 pedals via the multi-function jack, just not to everything else via the MIDI port.
