I've looked through this thread, but given the number of pages I may of missed it if it has been discussed before.

Has anyone used an expression pedal with the OFD? Any good? Probably more useful with modulation effects. I was wondering what it would be like to control the clean or drive using it, for building heavy swells.

I loved gradually swelling in the distortion, although it's not that necessary for most songs.

The only negative to the One Series is that I have to peel the pedal up from my board a little in order to plug into Input 2 to use the Neuro app. Is it OK to leave the cable plugged into the pedal, or will I get noise that way? I'd be very excited to see a One Series Envelope Filter.

I had that same issue when I had the Vertigo. I just placed mine on the top right edge so I always had access. You could put something like this on there:

I just leave the cable in and have a clip for it under the board when it's not in use.

I tried using the Manta as a volume swell by having a moving low pass filter to *try* to imitate a double bass. I guess the nice thing about this method is that the timbre changes so it's not just a volume swell, but I can't seem to get it quite right yet. I'm curious why you can assign any of the parameters to external control, but the envelope shapes on the Manta can only control the modulation. If I could assign volume to envelope I think it could be really cool. Hmm.

Any tips on how I might be able to get a more convincing bowed string sound?

I control my OFD volume with expression pedal, Manta on a slow phaser setting, then off to reverb land. Delicious.

Fun coincidence - I was cleaning out the unneeded files from my computer's temp folder and happened across this earlier today. Apparently I don't have an OFD nor Dimension Reverb page on my site, thus never published this sound and patch there. Sorry, I've been suuuuuper lazy sharing new stuff on my site.

I just spent almost an hour running the Lunar with the Neuro app, just choosing from the factory presets. So many sounds!

Yup, I downloaded this one a while back! I wanted to try making one that didn't need an expression input though! Like I wanted to try making one where there's a slow note attack, but attack speed depended on playing dynamics.

Off the top of my head the only SA pedals that can do anything envelope related, at least right now, are the modulation pedals. So you'd need to try to find a modulation sound that provides the attack manipulation you want while also providing the tone you want. I'd think a non-resonant low pass filter would work best. Though there's a couple fairly vocal sounding filters on the Manta that might give a bit more mmwaaahhh type quality to the raw tone and then sculpt it further with the EQ. Then send that into a 100% reverb. The Reverb is really what did all the work in the sample I provided.

You can also use your instrument's volume knob to do the attack swells. No expression pedal needed.

Note I didn't think of the 100% wet reverb idea myself, I saw someone else post that here on TB and tested it out. I thought the results were good.

Mwahh isn't a worry since I'm using a fretless. Today I played around a bit more, instead of envelopes I used the slow attack and reverb on my zoom ms60b and used the multiwave to get a rich harmonic texture. I wanted to use the Manta to envelope since then I can get a nice smooth saturated distortion that's filtered based on the original dynamics in one single pedal, but I guess this will do instead.

Ok I'm trying to figure out which pedals might get me close the bass sound on Bananarama's Cruel Summer or even better in Conway's The Growl (starts around 0:17). I'm thinking I might be able to get there with the Manta and a little OFD, but before I lay down the money I'd be interested in some comments.

The first one I am pretty sure the Manta could pull that off. The second one sounds almost exactly like a MWBD but I think the Manta could there as well.
