Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

I did some key word searches and didn’t find any comparison of these two, so here goes...

I have a Nemesis and Aftershock incoming and am already looking at the hub along with midi controllers. I’ve seen the midi mouse listed as an entry point for the controller. The Disaster Area DMC3 XL (gen 3) seems to be another possibility, but I noticed DA also has the DMC Micro - it’s 2 footswitches versus the 3 on the dmc3XL.

I’m wondering if these are both in fact compatible. If the Micro is also usable with the Hub, what’s the benefit/use of the 3rd footswitch on the XL vs the Micro?

Appreciate any insight...

Today is ventris day. It’s out for delivery :hyper: I must say, at this point I would be happy with only the after shock + nemesis on my board. The nemesis is so beautiful. You guys should really be proud of that pedal. I feel the ventris will be the same. I actually bought a telecaster because of my source audio pedals and the demos :laugh:

For the sake of sharing info....I know we connected via contact, but yes these are all compatible with the Hub.
In general, MIDI controllers really benefit from from more than 2 footswiches. It makes navigating presets faster and more intuitive.

@rsmith601 and Mr. Nathan Navarro were at SW today and I had the chance to bug the crap out of both of them for about a solid hour or so. It was awesome to see them here again. They had the whole lineup setup with Nathan doing demonstrations and giving a ton of useful info on everything. I also took home my Ventris today after a long time thinking about it. I definitely wasn't as productive as I should have been today but it was worth it.

Thanks guys, have a safe trip back home!

so i was thinking of picking up a gemini/luna/mercury but was wondering what the state of the desktop editor for them is? i love my aftershock w/ the editor but hate trying to use the app (android scumbag over here), is it coming ? has it just been pushed back by the ventris/truespring/c4 engines, or is it not happening in the near future ?

The Desktop Editor has supported the modulators for a long time. At least a year?

Customers of Source Audio are universally highly intelligent! It took us a while to add all the cool stuff, like preset publishing and sharing in the Desktop. Hub support in Desktop Editor now in beta.

Well, right off the bat I am thrilled with the Nemesis. Had some time to play with it and mess with some of the user uploaded sounds in the app this weekend. I really like my EQD Avalanche Run - especially the form factor for a delay with tap. On the other hand, the Nemesis has exponentially more capabilities & I haven’t even dug into the sound editor yet. Glad I gave this another shot after flipping it a year or so back. I think it’s just a matter of whether or not I keep the Avalanche, because the Nemesis is staying.

Aftershock will need some time. I’m not sold on it replacing any current dirt pedals of mine based on the sounds I’m getting with the physical controls. I’ve tinkered with the Neuro App and like the variety, but desktop editing will be needed to really give it a fair shake. It’s going up against a fifth gear, X7, and MBD-1, and Wizard Fuzz so the competition is stiff. And I really value being able to make on the fly tweaks without needing to use my phone/computer when it comes to drive.

He can give you the official answer but I believe:
  • Some sort of Multiwave One Series has been discussed as a real possibility
  • The distortion and synth pedals do not/will not have all the Multiwave functionality

I’m rebuilding my pedal board with SA pedals, I’m tired of moving pedals around to change order, knobs moving, and not remembering exactly how I want things in between songs. What is the current suggestion for midi controller and loop switcher? I read about the boss ms-3, which seems like a good deal with the extra built in effects. What are folks using these days?

I can say that there is absolutely zero reason that I need to own a Boss ES-8. It’s a complete luxury that I snagged on a great deal.

After 6 months, I cannot image not having it. So many cool possibilities if you really take your time learning it.

I have a dedicated utility patch that simply switches the order of two loops for comparing sounds on the fly. I then set that structure up, and hit save. Don’t even touch a cable.

Anyway, it’s good for though if you snag a good deal. I got mine for around $400 shipped, which isn’t that much more than the smaller ones.

The big advantage with the ES-8 (to me) is that I have more than a few effects. I’m not a dirt or filter junkie, but I have my favorite of every effect I use:

Pitch, compressor, drive, synth, filter, modulation, delay, reverb.

That’s all 8 loops. I thought about using the true bypass approach with some of them, but having them in loops means I can do everything the ES-8 is capable of with every pedal. Order changes, trails bypass, the like.
