I knew I came to the right place.

I could repurpose all effects from a Line6 400 pro but that seems antithetical to my bassist goals. So my current reverb and delay needs remain unmet. Have a rackmount delay/verb old school DOD 512 but, gosh, patching and manual settings and more first-world issues...

Suspect SA has a pedal solution for all that I lack- except talent and focus.;)

Just wait....I was set on my decision to get the Boss SY1...it took me about a page of this thread. A day later I cancelled my pre-ord of the SY1 and ord a C4. Then I ord an Aftershock and a Hub the following 2 days after that! haha The threat is real my friend.

I can always come up with some excuses unless I have a REALLY good show. ;) Obviously I don't have room for both the C4 and the FI, so it's a matter of which one has the best playability (tracking & ease of use) on stage and has the sounds that may work for me.

I've slowly been integrating MIDI connectivity along the way, starting with the Timeline, moving on to a synth and then recently moving to the Dr. Scientist Atmosphere reverb. No longer do I have to place pedals next to each other to hit multiple switches at the same time or dance on a bunch mid-song.

I also understand the desire to work within a pedal ecosystem like SA can provide...but I'm definitely one for picking out the quirky oddball stuff for what it has that's different. Like, currently using a patch on the Atmosphere that has a verb with a ring-mod on the reverberation that's being keyed to a LFO set to a low BPM that has a randomized wave-form.

I've really come to enjoy that I can build patches with the ES-5 that features traditional effects pedals and also MIDI pedals so that with one button you can really shift soundscapes pretty drastically. While I don't expect the C4 will replace what I have on the board, I'll be interested to see. Also, I definitely have some odd-balls that aren't on my board for size reasons (T-16, OC-2, Matryoshka) that maybe I won't feel a loss for with the C4.

Oh, I gave up on piecing it out. I figured from the start that you really need the hub to unlock the pedal effectively.

If you're buying the hub, I'd definitely consider what the Source Audio stuff can do for you in relation to the rest. Some of the controllers like the Disaster Area DMC I have can only control up to 4 devices effectively (without need for additional MIDI expansion). I have a feeling that using the Hub with such a controller would expand your ability to have more pedals triggered.

Then it becomes a balancing act of if you prefer the end tone and character of a singular 'effect pedal' or what options some of the stuff that Source Audio, or Strymon or Eventide can provide. There can be beauty in imperfections if they're the right ones.

I recommend a few things if you're ready to explore, @DrMole.

YouTube videos will give you an idea of how each pedal sounds. There are extensive videos comparing the Ventris reverb and Nemesis delay to other reverb and delay units on the market, for example.

Download the Neuro desktop program from source audio.
You can see every pedal's individual editor. You can look at the editors for every pedal even if you don't own the pedals. (nice touch @rsmith601)
Skim through and we can answer any questions you may have about all of the control you would have access to.
For example I personally wasn't sold on the Aftershock pedal until I saw the editor in a video and realized that I could program two parallel channels per preset.

You have a C4, right? Do you have an unhealthy obsession with purple? Do you really need to run both at once? Assuming your answers are "yes, no, no" then I'm not sure what's tempting you...

I have 2 envelopes on my board right now...so yeah, I don't need to be looking. If anything the C4 may chase away my JoshWah if it does that sound REALLY well and tracks super fast. I have a song that is dirty enveloped filtered funk-pop style that includes rapid octaves, ghost notes and slides

I'll probably do that, maybe some rubber washes for the shallow-sitting switches. Still hoping to find something that will fit the bigger Nemesis switches...

The C4 is not the synth pedal you are looking for.
