But it MAY be the synth I'm looking for. I won't know until I paw it! Also, if it does double doody as synth and another envelope filter option, who am I to complain. Or an OC-2. Or whatever else it does. Just don't make me have to program the Brade Runner patch myself.

But you already have such cool stuff you really don't need another pedal, besides so many other people have one you don't really want to follow the crowd huh

In all seriousness it kind of is.
When I first got the C4 I had a few ideas for running a second one in the chain but I really need to see if one unit is actually limiting me from doing what I had in mind. MIDI might fill in the blank. If I pulled the trigger on a Spectrum it wouldn't be until after I've gone full MIDI in my setup.

That’s a rarish odd bird. Bi-Mode Chorus. Two choruses that are voiced differently with different rate sweeps that pull against each other for weird modulation sounds.

I have 2 envelopes on my board right now...so yeah, I don't need to be looking. If anything the C4 may chase away my JoshWah if it does that sound REALLY well and tracks super fast. I have a song that is dirty enveloped filtered funk-pop style that includes rapid octaves, ghost notes and slides

The C4/Spectrum are designed to give the community unprecedented tools for the creation and modelling of "ANY" envelope filter. In the past, we needed to do all of this work in house. Now those tools are there for you. We did do the Meatball and the Tron in house, but those were done with the same editor, filters, and envelope tools that you have too. What I am suggesting.....and time will tell.....is that the C4 and Spectrum can replace an unprecedented number of envelope pedal sounds. We could not nail the Meatball with the Manta, BEF Pro or other SA pedals. We could with C4.

Wait, so where is the the meatball preset? I found one in the community (Nathan’s) but I wouldn’t say it nailed the meatball underwater quack. I played w it for an hr or so and couldn’t get it to either. I’m no Neuro expert though..

I owned a meatball for many years and have yet to hear a filter do what it does.
Would be so cool if the C4 could get there

Thought so, if you do decide to move that one let me know, see if we can work something out. I had one on a board that disappeared in world transit and have not been able to replace it.

I'm guessing the JoshWah (Broughton) could be 'cloned' as long as you can get the gain/dirt that's built in fairly closely...

...my other filter is probably harder Xerograph deluxe in 4-pole mode on the verge of oscillation with expression to sweep the frequency that's being fed by a voltage-starved fuzz that's being high passed. That chain of effects might be best left as it is.

But if I could come close to the Broughton then add a bunch of others, it's a net gain in a pedal that also does synth.

I’m willing to bet money the C4 can and will do the xerograph sound if you spent some time with it and learned the editor. It can do a lot dude.

The Xerograph is powered by a relatively simple Spin DSP chip (at least the one we have is). One way or another, this should not be out of reach.
