This is the intended functionality, at least for now. Here's an explanation of why it works this way:
In soft bypass mode, the enable/disable foot switches for each preset are effectively controlling the amount of Reverb Send. When the foot switch is toggled to make the effect “active”, Reverb Send is at its normal level. When the foot switch is toggled to make the effect “bypassed”, this means that Reverb Send set to zero.
I put the words “active” and “bypassed” in quotation marks because in reality, the effect is never bypassed – in soft bypass mode, it is active at all times. The foot switch is simply toggling the Reverb Send signal path on and off.
This is why the expression pedal does not control the Reverb Send in soft bypass mode – you would have two things attempting to control one parameter. So, in soft bypass mode, the foot switch is effectively overriding the expression input. We have given the foot switch priority over the expression input in the software.
It would be possible to still allow the expression pedal to control Reverb Send and then have the foot switch act as a “Reverb Send mute” control. This could possibly be enabled in a future firmware update, although we would need to do some further investigation into the most effective way of implementing it.
