Apparently my Neuro-Hub was delivered this morning. I don't know that I'll get to play with it for a while, but I wanted to check...To use MIDI with the C4, does the unit still need to be set to Channel 1?

Also, does anyone know if Disaster Area has updated DMC-3 firmware to include the C4 on it's devices list? My DA DMC-3XL dates to 4/4/2019, which I believe pre-dates C4 availability.

I believe they fixed the restriction for the MIDI channel. Still, I'd start with both the Hub and C4 on 1 and go from there.

This I can do. Right now I have my FI on #1 and my DMC-3XL gen3 setup to work with that, but I can certainly move it around. It looks like the newest DA firmware is from about 2 weeks ago, so I'll first have to do an update there, then look to move either the FI to #4 or the C4 to #4. Obviously it's a little less work to set up the C4 on 4 (and makes sense in naming paradigm) because I'd just leave the FI where it is whether it's on my board or not.

Meh, just give it a shot after the firmware updates! Easy to switch back to 1 before digging in. I'd check first thing to be sure it'll work.

C4 and Hub ought to be on different MIDI channels. If you think about it, you kind of want each MIDI device in a system on it's own channel, and both the C4 and the Hub are separate devices.

Yep. I sort of poked at the process a little. The DA stuff sometimes takes a bit of work because it's very feature packed but in a nested-menu kind of way. I may end up doing a full reset and update.

My thing is that I'm not going to be using the USB-MIDI to the C4. I'll be using the hub and traditional 5-pin to the hub first. That's because the DMC isn't my 'main' controller. So it'll run DMC->ES5->Hub->C4 (ignoring my other MIDI devices on that path for now.

So it's a matter of how the Hub/C4 wants to configure to work best to send signal direct to C4 (rather than doing 'scenes', which are unnecessary for me).

While we're on the subject of USB MIDI (and I apologize if this has been asked and answered before)- from the sound of it, the C4 I took delivery of today is going to take the place of at least 3 other pedals (Manta, OC-2, Digitech BSW). I haven't been using my Aftershock much, so I'm thinking of taking it off as well. I don't see the use of having the Hub either, as it was solely used to change patches on the 2 SA pedals I'll be removing. I'd like to control the C4 via USB MIDI from my HX Effects, to select patches rather than using the Hub for one pedal.

1. Is this possible (everything I've researches says it is), and 2. Where might I find a proper cable to connect the 2 (HX has a USB-B out, C4 has a USB-Mini in), or am I going to need an adapter or three?

Won't work, HXFX doesn't work as a USB Host. You'll need the Hub or a compatible Disaster Area controller as a go-between.

use the hub you have now for it...then if you're feline that it's not going to do the trick...this is coming out soon.

The HX manual says that it can send a MIDI message, just like a normal MIDI jack, out via USB, and the C4 can accept MIDI via USB, correct?

Ok, no use getting rid of the Hub then. Don't see a need to get something else, if all I plan to do is change patches.

Give me a day or two to make absolutely sure I no longer need the Aftershock. ;)

Looking to duplicate a few patches from my Manta on the C4. I see there are some controls named the same on both, but, there are also a bunch more on the C4. Does anyone know which controls on the C4 duplicate what's on the Manta?

I know. I don't totally understand Host mode so I can't tell you why it won't/doesn't work. I think when they say it can send MIDI via USB, it still needs to be connected to another device that is acting as the host.

Really strange. I can easily control my Future Impact with the MX, via traditional MIDI, with nothing in between. Figured I could do the same with the C4. Ah well, guess the Hub is staying, for now.

More to do with whatever MX setup than the C4/MIDI I'm guessing. The FI has traditional 5 pin MIDI ports so, super easy to go from standard ports to standard. The C4 has USB MIDI which is increasingly more popular...but if you're using ol' 5 pin, you need to get from point a to point b. Also 1/4" MIDI is around, so the 4 connection 1/8th connectors from Hub to pedals makes sense (TRRS)...since you can get away with less than 5 connections if you're not powering a pedal.
