Sat down tonight working on a texture concept.

MBD-1 > FEA DB-CL > C4 > RV-500

In the clip you'll hear the MBD-1 first alone, then with a Space Echo effect applied by the RV-500, then finally I engage the C4 for a swelling tremolo effect.
Its sloppy so be ready.

My signal is split at about 220hz after the FEA DB-CL. The high frequencies are fed into the C4 parallel to the low frequencies. The high tremolo LFO speed is running 4x the speed of the low tremolo side. The LFO resets when the envelope is triggered and I've applied a Swell envelope to each voice.

I really like applying dirt before the frequency split here. It helps accentuate the high tremolo side.

Not entirely sure how I want to use this yet. Still working on the preset itself but at some point you just gotta take your hands off the editor and play around.

this sounds awesome, but the real lesson I learned is that the MDB-1 sounds absolutely amazing.

Very quick first impressions: they nailed the out-of-box playability factor - I won’t have time to mess with the app or editor until tomorrow, but even without moving the knobs too much I was really happy with all the sounds.
Extremely fat and funky sounding, I would be 100% sold on the Spectrum as-is even if it didn’t have the added benefits of the Neuro editor, very nice but of course i’m anxious to start tweaking things

My planned unveiling in a live practice has been postponed, but gives me time to try to get more time in with the C4 and to record more presets. I've recorded most of my experimenting, though many of the settings didn't get saved. Will try to get presets and short samples this time. One thing I recorded was an insane feedback that triggered the C4 and sent it through a lot of reverb which went into very scary sounds while dying notes made didgeridoo type sounds. The best part is, it's insanely easy to replicate live if Interstellar Overdrive happens to go way out there, for instance.



I'm trying to ignore this Hub conversation. My wife counted my pedals disapprovingly the other night. She was not assuaged when I said I just sold two. Plus, I want to get better with the pedal before I set it and forget it, which I'm more than apt to do. But I'm glad the in depth Hub discussion will be here when I need it in the day it's needed. So keep it up, I shall need copious help.

Dude!! I want one of those C4’s!! No offense to SA, but I wish the C4 looked more raw. I’ll of course live just fine as is. But it would be so cool to have one like this. I’m usually pretty comfy taking my pedal apart and if I wanted to, refinish the enclosure. But I tried taking the C4 apart just to see inside when I got mine and realized it’s a tad more intense than your usual enclosure. Seemed that way to me anyway. So I opted not to.

Good news, I got my hub and C4 communicating again and all is well god these spectum presets are AMAZING! I’m no filter guru but I love what I’m hearing so far. Just friggen awesome. So glad I went for the C4 over the SY1. No offense boss, but now, I’m like, what’s an SY1??! Haha

Funny, I’ve come dangerously close to buying a second C4 because I like the standard look quite a bit. I have a thing for silver/gray pedals.

Would love to hear that retriggered LFO played against a drum machine to see how well you can keep the tempos synced up musically.

Just bit the bullet and ordered a hub, soleman and cables from Sweetwater. The setlist mode is what decided it for me, and it's a bit more compact! Thanks for your help

Yeah, setlist mode was a big motivator for me as well. Now that I’ve had a Soleman for about a year now, I find panel mode to be my main go-to. I have different panels set up for specific basses and specific songs as well as what I consider my “main” panel which has the 4 scenes I most frequently use.

I absolutely love the Soleman. Since I’m running an Aftershock, Lunar Phaser, Nemesis, C4 and programmable EQ, it’s kinda a no brainer for me. It really ties my whole SA ecosystem together in a very user friendly and customizable way.

Yeah, setlist mode was a big motivator for me as well. Now that I’ve had a Soleman for about a year now, I find panel mode to be my main go-to. I have different panels set up for specific basses and specific songs as well as what I consider my “main” panel which has the 4 scenes I most frequently use.

I absolutely love the Soleman. Since I’m running an Aftershock, Lunar Phaser, Nemesis, C4 and programmable EQ, it’s kinda a no brainer for me. It really ties my whole SA ecosystem together in a very user friendly and customizable way.

This is similar to how I use the banks on my ES-5. My first bank has a 'clean/MIDI reset' patch then the 4 most likely patches I'll use during the set. The second bank has the same 'clean/reset' patch as the first (actually, every bank has it) in the same position, then 3 patches I may choose for a song that's usually in the set but I can apply different stuff to. Then bank 3 has some 'stock sounds' I may or may not choose to use. The nice thing is you can pick the number of banks you want to have access to...so right now I have 3 active banks out of a possible 40 banks, which makes it easy enough to bank up/scroll to where you need.

The clean/reset sends a bypass message to all the Midi pedals as well as bypassing all the loops. It's a fail safe on stage if I've been messing with any of the actual pedals or have activated a MIDI pedal for use a'la carte rather than using one of the controllers.

Well, we confirmed it. If you create a preset on the LA Lady, then save it to your library, then try to burn it from your Library to your Aftershock, it will not stick when using your phone. The work around is to publish the preset to the cloud and then you can burn it to the pedal. This is the first time this has ever come up. It is not a usual case!

Beautiful, that's good enough for me! And thanks for caring about little stuff like that when all hell is breaking loose on the new product end.

The HUB scenes are separate from the presets local to the pedal. So you could have 128 presets on the Spectrum/C4 another 128 presets on the HUB.

Kind of what I figured, but always good to have confirmation, right?

I shall redub it Chernobyl, which is a cool name, and fits. Thank you @Bfieldy! And don't worry, I can rationalize with the best of them. Just gonna wait a few months before taking that plunge. May be able to remove a pedal or two in that time. A Ventris seems quite likely, even if an Ocean's 12+ is in the offing.
