Finally I got around to playing with the C4. The machine!! Here are 3 takes on what I think are fantastic bass sounds.
(For soundcloud one needs to get creative!)

I’m still honing my C4 Flashlight patch. I’ve got really close on the FI but it’s a bit harder to nail on C4.

Nice tones and playing.

Going to dig into the new Spectrum this week and see what magnificent foolishness can be created. Thought I only needed a filter but you folks are the best salespeople in existence for the C4.:smug:

For the wind sound I created a patch called Wind Effect with E-Dome and Tape Delay. The whooshing is my Moog MF-103 12 Stage Phaser. (I used to get much bigger whooshing winds with the Dimension Reverb, no Phaser needed, will have to pull it out and modify this to get a better sound, I remember using E-Dome...) The first bass is using the One Of These Delays preset on the Community Cloud, the second bass is actually just the dry signal moved to the right. A pick is most likely going to be necessary. The chime effect was a Shimmer Reverb into a Reverse Delay that I forgot to save, but the brightness and mix and almost all parameters were nearly maxed except the delay time, which was short (will try to recreate and save and publish). The guitar and slide guitar (apologies, not a guitarist nor slide guitarist, but gave it a shot) was distorted with fuzz from SA MWBDP and an EHX Platform overdrive into the preset One Of These Delays guitar.

Eta: the tremolo was with the One Of These Delays preset into EHX's Oceans 11 Trem Reverb on a square wave. And did the knocking by hitting the strings just above the neck pickup.

Update on my issue: I can adjust the settings of the spectrum within a scene in the desktop editor, and they WILL save if I simply hold the scan button down (hold to save) on the hub it self. Should've tried that sooner.

Also if I persay, plug the spectrum into my usb hub, and set a preset, I can then "create scene using attached devices" with the hub and it will use those settings.

still kind of hoping another hub user could try to save a scene manually adding the spectrum filter, the actual pedal isn't required to test, just the hub. Turn knobs, save and name within desktop editor, switch to another scene and back to the spectrum test scene see if knobs took. Still no joy there. I haven't heard whether or not this is just me.

That being said - while that's being figured out, the work around is honestly simple enough. All my other SA pedals have no issues with settings being saved within a scene via the desktop editor.


Not sure anybody out there is actually running a similar setup, hub and c4+spectrum or even just a hub setup with a spectrum, but if you encounter this issue I hope this helps for the time being.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head GisserD. It's not as much an octaver like an OC-2, I classify it more as a "subharmonic generator" because it creates a synthesized 30-60hz signal. Not a ton of fundamentals there but I love the feeling of pulling air out of the room when I step on that thing. I actually use it as the beginning of my "synth" chain currently, I'm putting fuzz and overdrive pedals after it to beef up the fundamental a bit and provide some grit. I know the C4 does excellent dirty synth and OC-2 tones, but I'm still curious if it can do the same pure subharmonic thing that meatboxes can do

Pretty much anything you like is controllable by MIDI. Go to the MIDI map in the desktop editor to see what you can assign.

I currently have the OFD, Manta, Dimension, and a Hub. I'm definitely going to purchase a C4 soon, I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the Aftershock as well, or possibly add a SB2 MultiwaveBass. I am rebuilding my board around my Line6 HXFX. I really like the HX dirt and I've loved the OFD for years now. I'm just trying to figure out if the Aftershock is worth the upgrade, or if I should look in a different direction to the Multiwave for a different tone palette. I've wanted a multi wave ever since the Pro came out, I just never got around to buying one. What say you?

i have a HX stomp and an aftershock on my board, along with a C4, and they sound great together. if you at talking about distortion pedal emulation then id have to give it to the aftershock, it just sounds better. But if you also use the Line6 amp modeling stuff for distortion it totally changes the game.

i use them in parallel to add thickness, detail, etc.

Since you are already interested you should go ahead and pull the trigger on the MWBD. Such a unique flavor of drive, and one of my favorite effects units ever. The octave distortion alone is something special.

A 1series version is supposedly coming soon, after the new EQ pedal is released, but the SA guys have been pretty quiet about it so who knows at this point.

I think this is the answer to the question I tried to ask but didn't convey. I was under the impression the Aftershock would contain Multiwave algorithms, but upon further research it only has one foldback drive.

I think for now I'll just get the C4 and hang on to my OFD since I already own it.

Sorry if the question has been raised before, but the information I gather from this thread, the Gear Page thread etc. is not really clear, even contradictory.
I often read that the Spectrum presets are compatible with the C4. After receiving my C4 I burned the Tron factory spectrum preset, which worked but made the pedal completely bugged (unresponsive buttons, wouldn't disengage, etc.). Afterwards I realized there was a C4 specific Spectrum Tron preset in the community.
Selecting C4 in Neuro preset browsing and checking compatibility check button does not bring any Spectrum filter.
Is it a temporary issue or does that mean that in fact Spectrum presets aren't compatible with the C4, period ?
