Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

Along the same lines of questions so If I wanted to use a hub to save scenes with the C-4 and or the Spectrum and get use of all the Preset Space I would need a hub for each pedal then and something to control them? Or am I totally off on this?

The pedal board pic I posted above shows 1 hub. Silver box, upper left. 4 pedals are connected to it. The Nemesis delay is dedicated to my PA. The audio quality is good enough for me to use it for dub style hanging delay on snare or voice... mixing from stage I can do stuff with my feet that I only used to be able to do at FOH...

Can you set up the reflex with the senor out to the senor in of the hub and control expression to pedals? It doesnt seem to work. Could be user error....... Im guessing this is because the reflex never got developed like it should have?

Does the hub or soleman function as a true midi clock.

Sorry I am new to midi.... this may take a few question so I dont rip out all my hair.

Yeah - I've been digging into the EQ2 and I'm liking it a lot. I missed the part about two way with the phone though. Gotta dig a little deeper in ...
On a wholly other topic ... Can anyone point me to recorded example of people using delays on bass ? By delay, I'm not thinking like de-tune but more in the slapback echo or longer delay styles ... just you know, asking for a friend ;-)

Tool is replete with examples...Aenima and Pneuma come to mind immediately as ones where it's used compositionally.

Can't tell if there's delay in the bass on the original or not - probably not much if there's any... But I played this in a power trio for a while and my Nemesis ("Diffuse") definitely adds depth. It might not be 100% authentic, but we were trying to re-create the vibe, and it helped...

Bridge of Sighs, now there is a classic. At one point I could play all the bass parts on the record, sing much of it and play most all the guitar parts. I spent a lot of time with that one...
'Day of the Eagle' took a lot of work, finally got it.
We also did Too Rolling Stoned.
Crowds loved 'em - no one else around here did that stuff.
LG guy decided he'd rather go play Olde Timey music on dulcimers and such, so that project faded...

Those two are super fun on guitar as well... Day of the eagle is way easier than it seems to be at first. only hard part is getting the right feel for the dadadadadadada ... for a while, when open mic jamming on that one, I ran the solo straight into the mid part of the solo from Steely Dan's Peg which tended either get a laugh or annoy the other folks. I ought to get back into guitar playing shape and see how all this cool new Source Audio stuff fits in.

I’m in! Bought yesterday and got delivered today! Too busy with projects around the house to play with it today, but can’t wait to dive in tomorrow!

I've made the big pedal board purchase to upgrade to MIDI. I was lucky through lockdown to not be out of work and despite making less than the $600 unemployment bonus a week, I've got the Soleman and Neuro Hub, the expression pedal and the effect pedals (Nemesis, Ventris, Gemini, EQ2, C4, Vertigo and Aftershock). Any suggestions on the routing and order of things? The Hub has 5 USB connections, 2 pedals will have to be MIDI out and/or MIDI thru. The only other option I can figure is to use a second Hub. I am completely new to this, but have enough computer saavy to use the editor and MIDI protocol does not intimidate me. I'm just trying to figure out how to arrange things and get started on putting together scenes to cut down on the tap dancing. This pedal board is a beast, designed to have 3 inputs for a baritone guitar, bass and mic input for the saxes and flute. It is likely a bit much, but I like the idea of rolling up and doing a more diverse one/two man show that I could before. Of additional note, I have a Beat Buddy and Infinity 1 looper that I want to be synced up to the clock output from the Soleman. I am figuring the expression pedal would go into the Soleman to send signal where it is directed for each scene setup. I am even a bit unwise to assignment of channels.

I guess my main question is how to route the MIDI to get everything that can be controlled or informed of tempo info on-board. It is time to get the thing arranged. If if would help, I can post the other pedals in play, but these are the only MIDI ready things. The fuzz pedals are in a separate loop with a dedicated gate.

I'll post photos of the pedal board itself once the aluminum arrives and I get things welded up. I am shooting for a hybrid of the Holeyboard (perforated aluminum for the zip tie, quick change-outs) with box channel rails for structural stability and very possibly a second tier to squash the foot-print down to slightly smaller than semi-trailer size.

I mean, running a second neuro hub, run soleman to Hub #2, hub#2 midi out to hub#1, and the hub#1 out back into the soleman for scene name data. #1 would be set to share names where #2 would act solely as a midi-out/thru. You would have to build your scenes over two hubs, but it seems like it'd be less confusing to me than cycling scenes on 5 pedals and presets on 2.

I'm not sure how that'd work out in panel mode, because I haven't dived into it.. but I will say both closed/open momentary switches work for cycling panels, giving you access to the other 4 switches for calling up whatever presets you want to access.

But, 2 hubs = one midi out for all your SA pedals and the other midi out for the BB, which is likely only going to be for tap tempo anyway.

Nothing earth shattering but I uploaded my first patch today. EQ2 example of how I deal with room resonance issues. I can't quite get the top end to fall off as gracefully as I can with my board (Soundcraft UI 24 or SI Impact) but it it effective enough.

Did you configure it on the pedal or on the editor or app? You should be able to get the slope to taper off pretty smoothly with the latter two methods as they allow more precise frequency and gain settings, though gain is limited to 0.2 dB steps; is the coarseness of the gain steps the source of your issue?
