For the people who replaced a Broughton LHPF with the EQ2: do you have any good settings for cutting out overdrive fizz from a DI signal? My LHPF excels at this, my EQ2 arrived today and I can't get anywhere close to a similar result.
I feel like the best way to approximate an LPF would be to combine an extreme shelving EQ cut on the high end with a regular bandpass filter in a nearby frequency? Its possible that the shelving EQ or the bandpass EQ by itself would be enough (by experimenting with the Q settings of each).

The shelving EQ doesn't cut enough of the extreme high end. I need to mess a bit more with adding the bandpass filters to that; I couldn't get it to work but I don't think I messed around with the Q that much.

Interesting- I would think that it would when turned down all the way (which is like 18db?), but perhaps combining that with a regular pass filter would help. What Q is your shelving filter set at?

I tried a multiple Q settings and couldn't get it to work. But, I checked where I had the cutoff frequency on the LHPF set and it's around 5k, which is way lower than the frequency range I was actually messing with. Gonna chalk this up to user error for now and try again tomorrow.

The sound of naturally distorted bass. To my ear, best represented by a V4b or SVT cranked into a 4 or 8 by 10, not tweeters ... is gone by about 3 k... so yeah, if you are playing about up above 5 k it's gonna be gnarly...
Agreed! My sealed 610 has a bit of a peak around 1k and not much of anything audible at 5k. I love that because I can pump bright/clanky/nasty tones with my tube head and/or pedals through it without harshness or fizz. My main cab at home has a tweeter and all my same tones sound significantly nastier/harsher/buzzier through it.

The more I think about this EQ2 the more utilities I imagine for it in all my rigs!

Try my first EQ2 preset in the cloud. I made a foot-sweepable lowpass filter; you’ll need to adjust penultimate band though as I added a big resonance peak to make it synthy.
 
Been through most of this, and am sure I just missed this, but does anyone leave the neuro TRS plugged in (even if the other end isn't in a phone or tablet)? Trying to figure out how to set up my board, and wondering if I can run these TRS cables, and hide them under the board when not used?

...also, does anyone know if those straight TRS plugs for setting the pedals next to one another are available anywhere? C4 manual says the SA Reverb, but there's no mention of those there...

NPD: SA Aftershock In this reply in the Aftershock thread, Nathan mentions how it may have negative effects if they pick up static by being left plugged in.

Maybe anchor it, and unplug from pedal as well.

Ahh...perfect, well, not perfect, but now aware. Just trying to clean up the pedal board, and pulling the pedal every time I go to tweak it doesn't seem ideal, especially given how the C4 works.

I was able to get it to do what I wanted very quickly one I got the cutoff frequency right. I was able to get the shelving filter up around 10k and shave off everything above that using bands 8 and 9 (both with a 0.5 Q) to get rid of the grossness while maintaining some bite in the top end. This was through headphones, haven't been able to try my cabs yet.

Regardless, I'm extremely happy with it now.
 
Can you set up the reflex with the senor out to the senor in of the hub and control expression to pedals? It doesnt seem to work. Could be user error....... Im guessing this is because the reflex never got developed like it should have?

Does the hub or soleman function as a true midi clock.

Sorry I am new to midi.... this may take a few question so I dont rip out all my hair.
 
Well, I have the eq2, C4, Aftershock and Mercury. So it is more conceptual that a specific need. Basically trying to suss the approach...
C4 and EQ2 work the same as each other. Aftershock and Mercury work the same as each other. For the former two, you set a minimum and maximum percentage in the external control section of the editor. For the latter two, you specify a start and stop position for the knob(s) you map the expression control to.

For C4, connect the Hub to the pedal via the TRRS cable.

Plug a 1/4” cable into the Hub’s expression input.

In the C4 editor, switch on the “external control section” (near the bottom left of the screen).

Select “Hub/external Midi” as the source on a slot, choose a destination parameter. (Obviously this needs to be a parameter that is in use in your current patch - setting it as “voice 4 pan” would be pointless if voice 4 weren’t switched on.)

Set a minimum and maximum percentage. 0-100 gives full range, 100-0 reverses the sweep direction.

If you want to to have the parameter’s current knob position to be your starting point then you need to divide it’s current value by 256 then multiply by 100 to give the percentage value you’ll need to use as your first value. Enter whatever value you want for the second value to give the desired result (higher if you want the knob value to increase when you press the expression pedal, lower if you want the value to decrease when you press the pedal).

For the Mercury it’s a similar process but instead you only have a limited choice of the the four hardware knobs to map to expression. Then use the dedicated dials to specify the minimum and maximum knob position of each parameter you wish to control.
