Yes, oscillators are monophonic. Poly pitch shift has noticeable latency.

It is, but the polyphonic functions have a fair bit of latency. For polyphonic octave down functions, the Boss will likely perform better.

I should have qualified that with “not reliably polyphonic enough” to fill the needs of the poster for an always-on sub-octave. I find the poly voices on the C4 not particularly useful personally due to their latency and glitchiness, definitely not useful for bass lines. The useful sub-octaves on the C4 that would stand-in for the Boss OC-5 are all monophonic

There are some cool uses for them though. The chorus type patches I made exploit the latency as it acts like a short delay.

I have an LA Lady inbound. Could I set it so that I can switch between two distortion engines if I have each input and its corresponding output in a different loop of my ES-5?

I haven’t tried this but I‘m pretty sure you could.

OR... you could get a neuro hub and use the ES-5’s midi capabilities to get way more than two sounds out of the LA Lady and have another loop free on the ES.

Thanks. I was thinking of doing both to be honest but the Hub will have to come later.

The more immediate restriction is that channel 1 of the LA Lady would be in a loop of a loop (like in a LS-2 loop that's in Loop 2 of the ES-5) and channel 2 of the LA Lady would be in Loop 3 for different distortion sounds

ThunderCat has made this his signature sound. When I saw him live last year he just ran his bass signal parallel with an octave up. He covered guitar and bass duties the whole show with just his bass.

I use my iphone to control the C4. No way that I know of to charge the phone AND run the C4 at the same time. Unless perhaps you were controlling the C4 via bluetooth?

I use Android so don't have the aux-in issue, but I don't think phones can be charged off the pedalboard's 9v power supply (I think they use 5v)

The ideal current for charging a phone battery is usually quite high (a lot of phone chargers provide 1-2 amps of current), so most likely anything taken directly off a 9V jack from a pedalboard supply will not provide optimal current for charging (it will still charge, but very slowly). Then you also need to convert the 9V to the correct voltage (2.5 or 5V usually). There are some supplies out there with an included USB charging port like the Cioks DC7/Eventide PowerMax that just take the power off the mains and so provide optimal current for phone charging. Any device that turns a standard pedalboard 9V output into a USB charger (like this:[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) is probably not worth it when you could just run a separate compact extension cable (like a small 2 or 3 output one) under your pedalboard with a normal phone charger plus your power supply attached and adequately fed.
