Boot up the pedalboard. The UW does not respond to midi commands from my Morningstar MC-8 controller. Then I connect the pedalboard to my computer and launch Neuro desktop app. (I have a USB hub under my pedalboard that is connected to all USB capable pedals. ) When I click on settings for the UW, the display comes up as channel 4. After that is starts responding to midi commands from the MC-8 and continues to do so under the next power up.
Anyone else able to set and save the midi channel on the UW to something other than 1?
My Hub is set to Midi Ch 1 and my Ultrawave is set to Ch 10. It's very stable in my rig. I've not experienced any drop in Midi Channel settings, however I have found that the Ultrawave drops USB connection or freezes more often than any other One Series on my board.
Source Audio have said a number of times that the One Series can be erratic though a USB hub. I use a 4 into 1 USB hub where each port is switchable. So I can connect any 4 ports with out swapping cables (which saves on the port waring on the pedal). However I probably need to look for an 8 way powered version mow as my USB connectivity needs are getting quite large. I had a problem a few days back where the Ultrawave became partially unresponsive over USB. So I rebooted the board and my PC and when I reloaded everything, my Ultrawave had lost / cleared out it's Midi Map. I've also found that I can provoke my Ultrawave to freeze more easily than my other One Series pedals if I pull a lot of patches down from the cloud. Anything more than 5 (one after another) and it tends to freak out. I've also swapped out my USB cable recently and it looks like that's helped a bit too. My C4 can get confused if I power it on with a live USB connection to my PC at the same time. So I use my USB hub buttons to make sure there's no live USB connection when I boot. If I do need USB I wait until after the board has booted and then I connect only one device (via my USB hub buttons) at a time. So
action 1 to try: disconnect USB connection before powering up.
It's also possible that you have a power ramping or power starving issue some where.
I've recently given each pedal on my board it's own dedicated feed. Previously, I doubled up a number of pedals on the same daisy chain. The chains were all below the PSU ports rated 500mA load. But Jesse at Source Audio advised me to...so I bought an Ojai Expansion kit. Now each pedal has it's own isolated feed.
With my EQ2's power, I still need to delay power to it slightly. Otherwise, I get no midi to it over the big Midi Din cables. Jesse has suggested this is due to the Strymon's power ramping and that when the EQ2 uses the Midi Din cables it is more susceptible to this issue than the other One Series pedals. I agree with him. The Strymon PSU's seems to ramp up power on initial start up, probably to stop sharp power spikes. So with the EQ2, I need to break into one of the power feed leads and solder a power switch. So I can power this on after the PSU has stabilised and I'm thinking of doing the same with my Neuro hub. It's either that or I swap out PSU...which I'm not keen on doing at this stage.
I've had a few times where my Neuro hub has dropped or ignored my Ultrawave. All the other 4 attached devices were reacting and responding fine...just port 5 on my Neuro Hub and this happens to be my Ultrawave. I might swap my devices around on my Neuro hub to see if that makes a difference. The usual solution for me is to reboot my Neuro Hub.
Action 2 to try: reboot your Hub and / or Ultrawave after the rest of the board has powered up. See if that helps.
One of the other things to bare in mind with our Ultrawaves...we are all using Beta Firmware. We are previewing this pedal so that we can test this stuff out...so expect the odd hick up.
