Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

@Adamixoye - Thanks for the tip, looks like a pretty robust app. Not sure I'd need that much horsepower if I'm only changing patches, but hey... might be worth a look. Maybe there's more I could use it for. I like the look of the UI.

There are a couple things I wish were different about Midpad, but it's only $2.99 and works pretty well. UI being one of them. ;)

I'm biased but I would also recommend MIDI Designer.

Biased because I have done beta testing for them and I might be considered a "power user."
Like midi designer, I made a interface for controlling ventris and collider just to see how well it worked and how well the CME WIDI jack worked with our stuff. Never figured out how to post the builds though.

I just got done watching a video of someone using bluetooth to control their source audio pedals running through input 2 of each pedal.

Can't remember exactly what he use to convert the bluetooth signal to a 1/4th connection.. but if I didn't have a midi controller and a laptop that sounds like a decent way to sort things out.

It's like the one application where latency over bluetooth shouldn't be an issue since you're only using it to change and edit presets.

we’ve looked into this in the past, interest in it kinda died down, but there were 2 that we mostly had good luck with using. @rsmith601 would probably know better than me, it’s been awhile. it wasn’t always a 100% deal depending on phones, so we kinda stopped recommending them as time went on.

It's overkill for some people for sure, but it's the last app you'll ever need if you have more complex needs.

I've been an early adopter of WIDI. I have a few Masters and some Jacks. I'm curious how the planned Hosts might work with the smaller One Series pedals, because the Hosts can work, as the name implies, as a USB host.

Eager to see this as well. I made an attempt at using the WIDI jack with a disaster area micro ghost to see if I could control the eq2 via the app and usb but no dice. In theory, the eq2 and ultrawave should work with their WIDI host since it uses sysex for the app over usb, but no idea if it’ll actually work.

A quick Ultrawave / Neuro Desktop interface question, what does the Link button do under the 4 knob assignments?
It links that parameter across both channels. So if you assign say “band 1 level” to a knob and press “link” then that knob controls that parameter on both channel 1 and channel 2 by the same amount.

Yep, 2nd bug to report...I think that feature's not currently working. On a patch that has 2 separate unlinked channels, in this case Nathan's Dual Compressor patch. If I click that so that it goes green and save it...change patch and come back to it again, the linked Knobs are no longer linked. If I wiggle the knob I can see it move the level on the master controls under Ch 1...but does nothing on Ch 2.

The channel link button at the top of the editor has nothing to do with the 4 knob-link buttons.

EDIT - just tested this function and it works just fine for me.

I've been using the link/2 channel switch to create a clean compressed sound on channel 2 and creating a new effect on channel 1. It seems to work fairly well and consistently when doing it that way. Haven't tried two out there effects on opposing channels yet.

I'm assuming in doing it this way, that morphing on Channel 1 does not morph between Ch 1 and Ch 2, but morphs between 2 differing distortions on Ch 1. Just want to make sure on that, though.

Was gonna get the new firmware and play around last night, but had an early day, and chose sleep this time.

Morphing is per channel. So a single preset can have two completely different morphable sounds, one on channel 1 and another on channel 2. This is almost the pedal equivalent of vector synthesis.

Mine works if the channels are linked, not if the 2 channels are unlinked. Sustain > Default > link...ch1...wobble the knob...I can see Input gain move on Ch1's compressor. If I click over to Ch2's page...the Sustain > Default > link is no longer green and the knob doesn't affect the compressor on Ch2. If the link knob assignment was working, then it would work for both channels. In fact, if I turn the knob the knob assignment link unlinks in either channel. If you want an easy example, Nathan's dual Compressor patch. I wonder if the Mono > Stereo > Mono routing is interfering with the channel linking options.

I don’t know what to tell you but it works absolutely fine for me. Works for me when the channels are unlinked and linked. Nathan’s dual compressor patch is what I used to test it.

Are you on firmware 1.10?

Note that a new version of the Desktop and Firmware has been posted.

Fully patched up and using the latest Neuro desktop.
