hey … i have a few bugs to report

i mapped all my SA pedals so I can tweak with the faderfox EC4

when I click on the filter invert or restart on env 1 trigger on my EC4 , I see on the screen that it is clicking (color change) but nothing happens , then if I click with the mouse it changes


On the spectrum , when I when I turn of a voice , it works , but if I turn it back on , it’ll change color on the screen but will not actually turn on unless ,again, I click with the mouse ….


Not the biggest issue in the world , but I thought you’d like to know

ohhh , and sometimes when u open the mapping window , it won’t show the mapped command next to the CC number unless you click it … kind of frustrating when you search for a particular CC command you already previously mapped …

I think these were in the report I sent to Jesse. There are quite a few MIDI map problems (parameters missing, duplicated parameters) but many users won’t be affected by them. I was trying to control stuff like envelope types, filter types etc from my MC8. In the absence of a full MIDI implementation chart, I went through trying to find out all the mappings and values, which is when I found the errors.

If you turn the voice on, but dial it down to 0 it's effectively off. Then your fader fox mapped knob can turn the value from 0 to max at your compunction. There's no CC change mapped for the voice on / off and it's a duplicated option considering the above approach. Some settings are mappable, some aren't, some have work arounds. For me the FaderFox adds a layer of live controls that I can't get from the pedal's surface controls. Weirdly, the biggie for me is external control over the output volumes across numerous devices. It's like the 5th knob that I didn't realise I needed on my digital pedals (not just SA gear, but across my whole board). I'm not sure a Faderfox will ever replace the Neuro Editor, but it does help to have more assignable knob options. I hope the a Faderfox PC5 comes down the line at some point with more sensible Midi & power cabling...and some assignable CC buttons too.

Well, I just checked his site to find out about this Faderfox thing, and he does custom orders

Personally, I need to put some time into getting my Faderport 8 to control device parameters.

Non of the issue are a Biggie …
Im not counting on the faderfox for live it’s just my tweaking device to play around , so if something is not midi mapped , I can always use the mouse

but I guessed SA would like to know about these bugs for future updates

That faderfox EC4 is a killer !!! At first I thought , how many pages am I gonna really use , and I find myself always adding more pages of control mapping

between the EC4 and the Keith Mcmillen softstep 2 I’m actually barely touching my pedals

Cool …. Same issue on the C4
ON/OFF of voices , turn off with midi controller but won’t turn back on


Its crazy how many hours I find myself spending with that C4 and loving the sounds …

I’m using the C4 and the Aftershock both as Mono in Stereo out

is there a way to mute the output 2 when the pedal is bypassed ?

You must be using auto-detect for your routing. This makes the pedal go into digital bypass and the dry input goes to both outputs. If you select mono in/stereo out and true bypass, it will mute the second output. Note that routing is on a per preset basis.

I’ve had so much fun with my Source Audio pedals lately that I decided to make a board out of it.

I was thinking about how to arrange things, any suggestions?

I thought the EQ2 would be first to act as a noise gate and subtle Low and High pass filter along with some EQ, and then the second channel after the preamp for more EQ.

Probably filter after that? The Spectrum is absolutely lovely. I can sit for hours and try out new sounds!

Then comp? The UltraWave had some fantastic comp settings that I really like. And I haven’t even scratched the surface of multiband distortion yet. Really interesting.

And then the Aftershock? A great OD/Distortion/Fuzz with a lot of usable sounds. Could almost be the preamp by itself.

Next is Chorus/Phaser/Flanger? Not that I use it that often but why not? Could be fun to play around with.

Then the Super 800. One of my favourite preamps lately. Very easy to dial in a great sound, not really clean but not dirty either. Love it!

Back to the EQ2 and then off to the CabZone Bass. It’s a regular X, just a different name. The Ampeg 8x10 with some power amp drive from the “6L6 tubes” really does it for me.

I’m a “midiot” but I hope I can figure out how to connect the Hub and the Disaster Area to make the best out of the board.

What do you think about it?

I did chose the correct routing option
But wasn’t on true bypass

Haven’t checked in for a while - I still have my C4 on the backup/small board, but the newly acquired Collider has a seat on the main board. Perfect for the presets I need and the mix of clean digital delays and some sparse ambient interlude stuff.

It's reminded me to back up my Source Audio devices in the Neuro Editor and also make exports of my important /most used patches (*.pre files). I've added permissions to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Source Audio folder. On Windows 10 it's lacking modify rights for "Users" and "All Application Packages". I can now save patches with out having to start Neuro Desktop as an admin every time. A call out for your next build.

I'm wondering if there's a way to import a patch / pre file or setting into a specific channel on the Ultrawave? It would be useful to create channel blended patches. At the moment, if I want to import settings, I have to load the patch and then do a screen shot and manually copy those settings into a channel.

I'm posting here because SA pedals are kinda central in routing my board but this isn't necessarily SA-centric... if this is the wrong thread I'm happy to move the post.

I made some posts in here during September 2020 about revamping my board... and then pandemic fatigue hit and I kinda stopped playing bass, then I hurt my wrists and couldn't play, now I'm starting to get back into it. This is an extremely vague question but I just opened my pedal board for the first time in a year and am asking myself "what should I even do with this?"

So, if you were presented with these options and could set things up to your preferences, what might you do?
