Roger has stated he never really wanted to do the Reflex and it was a money loser. What has changed about the market and/or technology that makes it viable now? Or perhaps the design is so radically different that those previous issues do not apply?

It was a bit ahead of its time. Now more SA users are onboard with MIDI, it’s a much more viable prospect.

From what I have heard of the Reflex, it seems like now would totally be the time or something like that. MIDI-capable pedals and MIDI-controlled pedalboards are far more common today than when the Reflex was released and there still isn't quite anything that does it all in an expression-pedal format (though Morningstar controllers have integrated some of the MIDI expression sweep ideas, and perhaps integrating into a controller pedal like a Morningstar ultimately allows more versatility to the user)

You are very true to your word Roger. You said there might be some R&D budget left over for a Reflex II project depending on how well received the Ultrawave and C4/Spectrum were. The thought of controlling more than three expression outputs that are switchable , with pre-sets, from a single expression input in an external device with midi capability is astonishingly cool and super exiting. Last word in expression control....another best of breed device incoming...

What would be the advantage of switching to this pedal from the normal SA expression pedal for me? I run a Soleman, 2 Hubs and 8 SA pedals, running the expression through the Hubs and assigning it as required. I think my question is: What could I do with this pedal that I cannot already do through my current setup?

The original Reflex isn't limited to SA pedals like you are through your Hub, you can do general MIDI output or some TRS outputs.

I think you can do it without the USB Host, you only need one of those in place of the Neuro Hub

For Example my pedal chain is
Tuner->EQ2->Cali76CB->C4->Aftershock->Spectrum->HXStomp

For Attack its not triggering the Spectrum as hard because of the compressor, I like the Comp into the C4 but would still like to have that sensitivity back. Would I be correct in assuming i could take the output 2 of the EQ2 and wire it to the Input 2 of the Spectrum and set that as the trigger for the envelope?

my thinking is that would give me precomp sensitivity

Yes, that should work great. Just make sure the EQ2 is set for mono->stereo routing, or auto routing.

You could also run stuff in the C4 or Spectrum loop to get the uncompressed signal to be the trigger source. You might need to use a C4 preset which just passes along whatever comes into it unaffected off you wanted to use the pedals before or in your current setup without using the C4.

I’m actually now experimenting with using a MIDI loop switcher that I’m beta testing to select what gets placed inside my Spectrum’s loop per preset. I have the send/return of loop A going into input 1/output 2. Loop B’s send/return goes to input 2/output 1. I then run A into B in series if I am just using Spectrum alone, but if I want something in the Spectrum’s loop, I simply set up a preset on the switcher that inserts something between loops A and B.
