If the buffered bypass allows trails, then it’s most likely a DSP bypass which means it would be adding a bit of latency, which isn’t 180’ out of phase. That can make fixing issues more complicated of course. I’m just speculating of course, it could very well also be flipping the phase entirely but I’m not sure why it would do that.

That's a good point. It might very well be a latency issue. I'll do some testing based on that hypothesis!
 
I’ve wondered a few times why pedals don’t have a digital out and in too so you don’t have to do the digital-analogue thing too often - use small format plugs to give a benefit over analogue.
Yeah, that’s something I asked about before too. Someone needs to take the first step to make this happen, and Source Audio would be ideal since many of their users use multiple pedals. @rsmith601 mentioned previously that they are exploring something related.

Well, I experimented and am convinced that the phase is reversed coming out of the Collider.

I'm running a parallel signal utilizing an active splitter into my DAW: one channel is pre-pedalboard, raw bass signal. The 2nd channel is through the pedalboard including the Collider. The combined (mixed) signals sound great UNTIL I engage the Collider in it's true bypass loop. Then, whether the effects are engaged or not on the Collider, the tone thins out considerably in the combined mix. Flipping the phase on one of the channels solves the problem - but if I disengage the Collider loop I'm back to a phase cancellation state.

Whether the circuitry of the Collider inherently flips the phase (more likely) or the phase shift is caused by the pedals' latency (less likely) - I can't be sure. I'm 99% certain that using an external phase flip in the Collider loop in my rig will sole the problem. I just wish there was a software or firmware work-around!

Sounds like the One Control BJF Buffer is probably your best solution then. Would be great if there was any other small cheaper solutions. It is probably worth it for you though, as I doubt the Collider will be the last pedal you use that will flip phase.

When I did analog parallel paths I ended up putting one in a loop of my Morningstar ML5, so I can add it into any preset that was giving me problems. I eventually replaced it with a Source Audio EQ2, but of course that's a bit more money.

I know the Collider doesn't have balanced output, but that smells like getting the out-of-phase leg of a balanced signal.
 
I finally caved and made some minor adjustments to bring the C4 into the hurd...

So I was doing research for another pedal, and stumbled across this:
MIDI for Makers
Since I had most of the parts on the breadboard already, I went ahead and wired it up with a QtPyRP2040, thinking I’d make a tiny midi host for my C4, or just incorporate it into my other project (a three-loop switcher, with midi). No love, though.
I did get midi over usb into MidiOx, but not to the C4. It is possible I’ve got a bum otg cable, but it did work last time I used it.
I know the SA midi converter is due out soon, so this is not a priority, just curiosity. If anyone has any ideas, I’m all ears…
