Yea as @coyoteboy said, I would try taking advantage of the second dirt channel and program some midi CCs on the aftershock to turn the second channel on and off.

I’ve done this for years with my La lady. Though I cheat and use CCs for I/O routing, that way I can save if only the low gain channel is on, or both channels are on to the hub scenes, otherwise it would always load with the low gain channel only if using the external switch midi cc. It still has its places, such as for A/B selecting the 2 channels.

I think i understand what you are getting at, just slow on the uptake. Is this something the manual describes in detail how to configure?

Setting the I/o routing for a preset to cascade will result in channel 1 running into channel 2 in series. Just like stacking dirt boxes on a pedal board.

It can be done on any preset. It’s external MIDI expression programming that allows this feature rather than any internal expression settings.

What parameter(s)? Just pitch? I thought that was tried out at the very beginnings of the pedal and it didn't work. Any detail highly appreciated!

You need to set CCs for pitch for the voices and octave offset for the voices in the MIDI map first and use external control to send those CCs at the right values.

There is a big caveat in it being possible for any preset. Given there’s no global pitch offset in the C4, you need to address each voice’s pitch individually. This is fine where voices are in unison. It gets more complicated when one (or more) of the voices is at a different pitch from another voice as you need to account for those offsets in the programming for the whammy shift. For that reason, the whammy is better done on single-voice sounds and unison-pitch sounds. It can be done on others, it just requires more programming to keep the internal pitch relationships intact.

I was lucky enough to get asked by Roger Smith to help do some last minute beta testing on this new MIDI adapter they have coming out soon. It arrived yesterday, and I threw together a quick video for everyone to give you a taste of how it works/connects:



I'll be doing a bunch of testing tonight and over the weekend and reporting my findings back to Source Audio ASAP so that they can get this into production. First impression is that this is going to be a game changer for people with small boards with SA pedals, as well as larger boards with maybe just one or two SA pedals.

I have no direct affiliation with Source Audio aside from using some of their products over the years. Any perceived fanboying out was not done due to compensation or duress.

So in this case I have Six series one pedals, so I don't have to buy another hub. I would just connect this from pedal to soleman or existing hub? and I should be good yes?

Yes that's exactly what it's intended for. Another use case scenario is someone who's only got one Source Ausio small One Series pedal and wants it to attach to a Midi controller but doesn't need the features of the larger Neuro hub.
The sweet thing about this new device is that it's powered from the main pedal and this it's very small and discrete.

I'm glad the MIDI adapter is close to being available - my hope is that I can plug this into my Boss MS3 and use that to select presets on my C4, without having to do the Neuro Hub or any of these other devices in between. Am I thinking about this correctly?

I wanted to go for $59, but the team ganged up on me and said it needed to be $49. Obviously, there is lots of electronics in there to make the MIDI experience bulletproof. Jesse did not nice work on it.

Not sure if this makes me a fanboy, but I’ve suddenly found my at-home board covered in Source pedals…

I used to be a card-carrying analog-only-ist, but as needs have changed, and each of my experiences with Source gear has exceeded Sonic expectations - including the C4s octave sounds, Atlas optical comp sounds, and Aftershock fuzz sounds - I’ve slowly sold off the boutique analog stuff and gone to the dark (digital) side.

Would proudly recommend any of the above pieces to any aspiring bassist!
