I understand that in green mode the knob position affects the preset. But isn't there away to adjust the starting place for the output level in the preset, with the knob affecting that? It doesn't seem right that I can't permanently increase or decrease the output level of a preset so that it matches the output level of other presets....

No, on the older hardware green mode means the knobs override the saved settings. Only way around this is through using the new midi adapter to recall the preset, then the knobs are ignored.

Okay, I have a nice collection of SA pedals, and an atlas on the way, and am finally getting ready to move past my few pedal stored presets to using midi. I have both a Soleman and a Morningstar MC8 at my disposal. I have 2 SA hubs and more pedals than I probably need.

Currently have Ventris, Nemesis, After Shock, Lunar, Spectrum, C4, EQ2, UltraWave and soon I'll have an atlas.

So here are my current questions as I go into my next level of tapping into these things:

1. Will using the hubs and a midi controller allow more preset options on the aftershock and lunar than just the 6?

2. I have an M1 Mac mini and an i7 Win 7 machine. Which one would make a better platform for the SA software?

3. I'm building a single pedal board for both bass and guitar, I have a nemesis and a Centris, am I missing anything by not having a collider or a tru spring?

4. Can the lunar run vertigo patches?

5. do I need the new midi cables to use the aftershock and lunar with the hubs?

6. am I going to need to use hub space to add expression controllers?

>>You must keep in mind that it is the Hub that stores presets, not the pedals (with the exception of the Ultrawave). The Hub is constantly tracking ALL of the settings on ALL the pedals connected to it. When you press the SAVE button you are saving ALL of those settings to the location in the Hub that you have called up via MIDI. Anytime you send a PC to the Hub, it will send all of those settings to all the pedals connected to it. So, yes....in a way you can get more presets. In our language, the Hub is saving "scenes". It is very fast and easy to save things and recall them.

>>Hmm. Win7 is not that old. Should work. I will let others comment on Mac.

>>The TS pedal does have a few more outboard spring tank sounds than the Ventris. The Collider can run a a more flexible dual delay than Ventris. Nemesis cannot run a true dual delay. Other than that, Nemesis plus Ventris is awesome.

>>No, the Vertigo is its own thing.

5. do I need the new midi cables to use the aftershock and lunar with the hubs?
>>The Hub comes with 3 TRRS pedals. Sounds like you will need more. Given you have so many SA pedals.....we should send you some for free! They are nice small cables. send a note to [email protected] and tell them that Roger sent you!

6. am I going to need to use hub space to add expression controllers?
>>Note that each Hub works with up to 5 pedals. There is an expression input that will send expression to those 5 pedals. There are a few fine points about using 2 Hubs that some others might want to address. In my view they should be on the same MIDI channel so when you send a PC, the entire scene is recalled. Note that you must press the SAVE button on both Hubs.

I'm only responding to #2: I've been using my M1 MacBookPro and it's all good. Newer doesn't always mean better, but I think M1 is newer than Win 7. I'm on the latest OS, for what it's worth.

i do. I use it to swap what's in the loop of my C4.

I'm only responding to #2: I've been using my M1 MacBookPro and it's all good. Newer doesn't always mean better, but I think M1 is newer than Win 7. I'm on the latest OS, for what it's worth.

M1 is definitely newer than Win7, and I'm on the latest OS too. I prefer the Mac so I'll just go with it!

@rsmith601 windows 7 is unsupported due to windows not allowing cloud services on 7 anymore, needs to be 10 or newer for the desktop editor.

This was some amazing customer service. And now I need to order a Ventris too. I love these pedals. Looking forward to getting into the modification stage and really having some more fun!

Yesterday I started having an issue with my Neuro Desktop freezing when I connect any of my SA pedals. Neuro starts up fine with nothing connected, but the second I plug the USB cable it it stops - doesn't even display the connected pedal in the window. It completely locks up to the point where I can't even end the process with the Task Manager. It requires a reboot. I'm running Windows 11, the latest version of the app and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times as well as different cables. I finally checked it out with a different computer with the same pedals/cable and they work fine. So there must be something mucked up in my installation, but uninstalling and reinstalling isn't helping. I am writing SA as well but thought that maybe someone else here has run into this.

Are you using a usb hub or connecting directly to the computer via usb?

I had pretty much the same issue. Turned out the hub died. Contacted SA and they fixed it. You still under warranty?

It's increadible to think that Windows 7 is nearly 15 years old. Since then we've had Win 8 / Win 8.1 / Win 10 (lots of versions) and now Win 11. The car that I drive (a lovely old Jag XKR from 2002) is so old...Win XP was fairly new (and not very common) when it was made.
It's even more of a shock to hear that Win 10 is now nearly 9 years old as an Operating System and some of the early versions are no longer supported and seen as End Of Life. Win 10 1607 (the second major updated version) was End of Life as long ago as 2019. Microsoft have since announced that all Win 10 builds will be EOF by 2025. However, Microsoft likes to say these things...the reality is always very different.
Unfortunatly, Microsoft Operating Systems don't age as gracefully as old Jags.
