Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

Here's what I have right now. As I said earlier, the UW and C4 are responding to the bypass toggle on cc9, but I can't get the AS or Mercury to turn on. If I physically engage them, I can switch them off with the Soleman, but not back on, using multiple combination so values in the ranges mentioned above.

I just connected my soleman and was reminded that I'm actually sending PC messages to my hub to recall scenes that I made with my Aftershock. So I don't actually send anything directly to the AS and no CC. Sorry, I misremembered. I do this because it gives me access to more presets. For my C4 and UW as well as Collider, I use CC directly to the respective pedal.

I've been following your thread, too. I have scene mode setup for presets, but I want to switch to panel mode for toggling pedals on and off. Not quite the same thing you're looking for, but I did use the same method suggested for scrolling, but used it for a bypass/engage cc for all three pedals, but it's only working on the C4 and UW. I just want to be able to toggle the AS and Mercury on and off.
Ok, so many ways you can use the soleman I guess I'm now investigating if you can scroll presets via panel mode, I think panel mode as creating scene mode, it is ideally where I would start off until a have pedals I like in combination that's where I'll create the scene so on and so on, this is ideally how I would like to work, now if the soleman can't do it, that's another thing.

Also are you aware you can change panels by pressing button 1/2 up & 3/4 down?

The plan is to set select a scene for a song/riff/whatever and then switch to panel mode to toggle the bypasses on the pedals that are in the scene. Panel mode is working fine to toggle on and off the UW and C4, but the AS and Mercury just look at me like I'm crazy. It does appear that they are getting a signal, as the small LED on the top flashes whenever I hit the corresponding switch on the Soleman.

And yes, to have panels setup to scroll presets on certain devices when needed.

Oh so you just want to bypass the Aftershock? I think I can help with that, I played around with that earlier and only couldn't recall certain presets, but toggling on and off worked. Just out for errands but can write something with screenshot later.

For bypass @davedamage did you map a cc message to the aftershock? You need on and off data0 set to cc you assigned for bypass, then ondata1 64 or greater, and offdata1 to 63 or less than. Are you guys on the Facebook group? I’ve got a video on there that goes over how I utilize panel mode with a dozen midi devices and how I get the most out of my personal board there.

Would be interested in this video but I don't do social media. Anyway you could post it here?

Not sure it will work or not, but here’s the link, I do not think I can post it to YouTube as I used Facebook live to host the video.

edit: yea, doesn’t look like I can share group videos.

If you guys are interested in something like this, let me know, last time I did a livestream it ended up being me, @rsmith601 , Ray, and one guy from the fbgroup, lot of work for a low turnout. Maybe if I do a video rather than a livestream, might be better? Would at least be shorter than a 75minute video.

I am interested in any video on FB or YT and I sent you a friend request.
Live streams are difficult for me even when they fall into my schedule, but I do often watch replays.

I'm interested in any videos that make Source Audio products as simple as possible. My current topic of interest is the Ultrawave, because I just bought one. I think it's got great distortions but the impression out there is it's all wacky stuff. Bite sized videos with basic topics would go a long way towards lowering user frustration and option paralysis.

My current pain is setting up the Ultrawave with the Disaster Area DMC Micro Pro. I have it set up in preset mode and that's cool. What I really want to know is how to use the Multi-jack to control morphs while in preset mode. That would essentially make it a 3 scene pedal, without the delay of switching between presets.

I understand you can't make a video for every forumite's specific situation. Especially when it comes to midi. But there's definitely a hole in the user experience and bridging that gap could go a long way. Especially as newer, more complex products are released. :)

live streams let you just do stuff on the fly… videos I end up getting into editing out the flubs and cutting to b roll etc…
If you do a short curated live stream onto YouTube you can enjoy the more instant and lower production of a live stream - while at the same time people in different time zones can watch it later - and it can probably be embedded directly into a talkbass post or something

I agree. There are maybe 3 live streams on YouTube I've watched about my source audio gear. Two were informative, one was a bit long and rambling. All positive though
