I am trying to set up a midi chain again. I believe I read somewhere that the hub should be place in a certain spot in the midi chain, due to it getting overwhelmed by midi messages?

I have asked a question on another thread that is likely best posed here first:
SA Midi Device IN-OUT-Thru
View attachment 5250181
Q:Will the SA midi Device accept midi messages from other midi effects pedals at the IN and distribute messages to SA or other midi pedals? Limitations?
Also, if (in this case) a C4 is connected to either of the Thru or OUT from the SA midi Device, with the appropriate 1/8" midi to mini USB cable. Will the C4 power the SA midi Device if NOT using the midi IN on the SA midi Device? Other requirements?
Thank you for your advice on this in advance of purchase.
I'm a little confused by your wording but I'll try to answer since I have direct experience with the SA Midi device.
Think of it as an adapter with MIDI thru. It will adapt MIDI messages being sent to it from whatever control device you have. It is powered from the control port on your SA pedal, not from the other two ports. Your SA pedal can only receive MIDI messages from the "TO PEDAL" port on the adapter, using a TRRS 1/8" cable. The adapter will pass any MIDI messages it receives on the MIDI IN port to the THRU port and the "TO PEDAL" port. So how you utilize that is dependent on how your controller is setup. I personally set my SA C4 on MIDI channel 2, and my other MIDI device (HX Stomp, in my case) on channel 1. That way the C4 ignores anything that isn't on channel 2.
Connecting another MIDI device to the thru port without anything on the "MIDI IN" accomplishes nothing as MIDI thru isn't a receiving port.
Hopefully that's clear and helpful?

If the Revolt can send MIDI, then it will work as the controller. There is no need for upstream to use a 5pin MIDI DIN connector. The SA MIDI adapter should get powered from the C4 pedal, so no need to worry there. In the SA Manuel it mentions the need of 5 DIN on a "controller." The issue of power is there as potentially more of something that a controller offers.
In my scenario, function is basic to the C4 ON or OFF. Not getting into its brain, but using the six available presets. A basic switch operation, not a symphony of involved processes. The issue of power to the SA midi Device, through the correct cable, is an issue if a 5 DIN plug is required for power at the SA midi Device IN only.
i.e. can ya get power to the SA midi Device any other way than the IN port and can the SA distributor accept 1/8" midi from a midi OUT that doesn't use 5 DIN OUT port as described in the literature?

TRRS is only needed for the connection to the C4. TRS should be used for normal MIDI to/from the SA MIDI Adapter.Hey Derek,
Would (3) 1/8" TRRS cables connect all devices through the SA midi Device from ReVolt to connect power AND messages?
Awesome!TRRS is only needed for the connection to the C4. TRS should be used for normal MIDI to/from the SA MIDI Adapter.

I believe you'll need to use the hub in this instance. Both SA pedals need the TRRS input or USB for MIDI communication. Since you have the hub and more that one SA pedal, that makes the most sense. Hub requires its own power (don't think it can use power over 5 pin DIN), so you could get MiDI to the HUB from the MC6 either via the 5 pin or TRS (3.5 mm or 1/4"). Then from HUB to the SA pedals via TRRS.Hi
quick basic question please....
I have just acquired a morningstar mc6 pro.
What cables will I need to connect to a C4 and an UW?
mc6 has 6mm trs omniports. So, will I need TRS 3.5 into pedal, with 6mm into mc6?
I also have a Neuro hub (not sure if I need it with only 2 SA pedals). The cables that come with that are TRRS. This makes me wonder if I need a TRRS connector on the SA pedal end??
Many thanks for advice!!

You can connect a single SA pedal using the USB host on the MC6 Pro. I haven't heard of anything else new to allow a different connection to multiple pedals (without the Hub or MIDI adapter). Thanks for response.
I thought it was possible to connect 2 SA pedals UW + C4 < > MC6, without Neuro Hub??
Prefer that direct, bit less involved?
Unless I'm missing something I don't think so. The SA pedals need a middle man. One could be connected via USB with the MC6 Pro acting as the host, but not both. Could do one via USB and another via SA's MIDI adapter they started selling recently. It's smaller than the hub and doesn't require power (which comes from any SA pedal's TRRS port). But that's another thing to buy in your case. Thanks for response.

Thanks. I was influenced by this vid:
Section 2:09
The SA pedals don't take MIDI TRS though so that section isn't particularly relevant in your case.
Your options are this: one SA pedal connected to MS USB host port. Then use a Source Audio MIDI Adaptor to connect the 5-pin MIDI port on MS to the other SA pedal on its control input port.
Alternatively, buy the SA Hub and connect it to MS 5-pin port then hook both pedals up to the Hub on the TRRS control ports.
Or buy a Mortrix controller which has two USB MIDI host ports.
Is that not what I said already? Haha. I guess I wasn't clear enough. Or too noncommittal? Thanks for clarification. Although perhaps not the news I wanted to hear ha ha!
