Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

any news on an update for the neuro desktop?
The root of the problem is that Apple released a stealth security patch on 2/8 that is interfering with Neuro's ability to connect to its Cloud for user account/community section.

I've found that switching off internet supply (just turning off Wifi should work in most cases) allows you to boot the app and use it, just without account access.

I just requested an update from our dev team regarding a fix for this. 4+ days with about 50% of our Neuro Desktop users being unable to properly use the software is unacceptable.

Using the EQ2 or the Atlas Outputs 1 & 2, is it possible to have audio signal going out on the ring of a TRS jack? I understand that Output 2 is a TRS with the 'sleeve' being used to carry data.

OUTPUT 1: It seems to have a TS jack, so this wouldn't be possible.
OUTPUT 2: Uses a TRS jack with the 'sleeve' being used for data. Using the Neuro app, is it possible to configure the hardware so that the audio goes out on the 'sleeve'?

I hope this makes sense? I know it's unusual, and I can explain why if needed.

Thanks @stubbsonic--You are correct, the RING is for data, and I have no idea what the sleeve is for. After reading your post, re-reading the manual, and re-thinking what I'm doing, I realize I'm totally mistaken. Doh! I'm re-assessing my re-occurring inability to re-cognize audio signal processing!

Does anyone know if there's a way to use the SA tap tempo switch to alternate between preset banks instead of using it for tap tempo? This would be a massive help on my C4...
You can use the built-in footswitch for that. Set knobs/patch behaviour to “default mode” (as opposed to “preset” or “wysiwyg” modes) then enable the “quick bank change”. Granted, it isn’t instantaneous, but it’s not bad.

Thanks for the info, Quatschmacher! I actually already do this, but was hoping for something more immediate rather than having to time my long press...

Thankyou for the update NPappas! I had recently bought a Specturm and have been editing the heck out of it with Neuro Desktop... then just got a Gemini in last week. At first it was crashing as soon as I tried to use an online patch, and then crashing as soon as it tried to open Neuro. I thought must be something wrong with the Gemini and was a little frustrated!! At least now I know :) I will try the wifi suggestion. I got it going anyway by using an older mac, so everything is jiving with what you are saying.

So... here is my current layout on my R&D/audition board (Spectrum is off-board right now as I build presets on the C4 to take over the Spectrum's previous roles on the board).

Here is my proposed board...

* MXR Comp can live under the board
* EQ2 can live under the board as well (once I can control it via MIDI)

Moving the Comp and EQ2 under the board will provide room to put the Pirate Bridge 6 horizontally. But layout is not the important part of the post. What is important is me being able to control Collider, EQ2, C4 and DG Infinity (maybe - haven't seen a real need to use midi for this one so far) via MIDI. I'm not "stuck" on Pirate, and even if I added the Spectrum back to the board I think I could control 4 MIDI devices w/ the Pirate 4. (for you keen-eyed folks, yes the AEROS Looper is a MIDI pedal - but AEROS has their own issues w/ 3rd party MIDI and for my use-case w/ loopers there are already plenty of switches on AEROS for me to mis-click and f*ck up my solo bass show and try to pretend that it was somehow done on purpose.

The question I have (new to SA and new to MIDI as well) is are there better MIDI products I should be looking at (MC6??) instead of Pirate and are there any gotchas as far as Pirate-SA integration? I would like to be able to group some pedals in panels and control multiples at once for certain scenes. Other than that my use-case won't be anything crazy. If there are other resources/threads I need to know about don't be shy about PMing me some links (I don't want to clutter the thread). I'm a quick study and catching up fast (I'm a CEH in real life so that's the nice way to say "nerd", so I have no prob learning technical things), but I also don't want to misfire and go down paths that will lead me nowhere. I want to leverage the experts here and leverage what you guys/girls already know and do it once and do it right, even if that means spending more $$. So far - I am out on the Soleman (unless there is a compelling reason that I should change my mind).

I look forward to learning all-things-midi from you guys.

PS: Neuro Desktop crashes and burns immediately on login attempts for me (Windows 10), but I've reached out to SA for assistance. I've only seen Neuro from Android so far. Look forward to changing that. :)

Unless you need the support for the latest pedal the slightly older version also available on the website should solve that problem

How would I set the C4 to emulate a cocked wah? In other words to be set to one frequency without being sweeped? There are presets but I'm not understanding how they're set to have that happen.
Off the top of my head, I'd suggest trying a Bandpass filter model, with Depth at 0 (prevents sweeping), Q fairly high, and Frequency to taste where you want the wah to be set.

EDIT: Depth is how much the Envelope/LFO affects the Frequency knob, so setting Depth to 0 locks the Frequency knob in place.

Long time SA user, infrequent poster....

I'm currently using an Aftershock and a Collider on my bass board. LOVE them both! Source Audio is a leader in tone in the digital pedal world to my ears. A couple of deep editing inquiries regarding the Collider:

- I used to have a Dimension Reverb which had an extremely creatively-useful feature called "Reverb Send" where I could use an expression pedal to develop a verby, ambient pad, then back the pedal off and play over top of that ambient pad. I really miss that feature & I'm at a loss how to conjure that up with the Collider. Yes, a Freeze pedal does something similar, but just not as musically as the Dimension did. Is this possible or even capable in the software?

- Is there a way to utilize the delay side of the pedal where I can stomp a footswitch momentarily to create a single note delay line that continues as I play drily underneath? I'd love to be able to hit a footswitch at the end of a musical phrase to capture and regenerate that one note/beat while being able to play cleanly as it decays! I have a BOSS DD500 on my guitar board which allows this & I really find it handy. I've messed with changing the Collider's "Delay Bypass Hold Time" setting in the app, but that makes my tap tempo functionality more difficult. It should be noted that I'm using the aux control input for preset scrolling - that is maybe my limitation? Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Thanks everybody!

***edit*** I did figure out how to use reverb hold, which isn't exactly the same as the old Dimension approach, but it is a cool creative option! Specifically, running a more tame reverb in the unlocked delay side & then a more ambient/spacey sound on the reverb side, then pressing and holding the right footswitch. It's a different approach, but I can get similar vibes with the added bonus of different reverb textures as 2 different verbs can run simultaneously.
Still trying to accomplish the delay thing, though...
