I was gonna say, not that you don’t do a lot of work and spend a ton of time doing this stuff, but I’m sure it doesn’t feel like work half the time simply because you love doing it. I know I would. I’m sure you get benefits from it as well. Wish I was more active in the community and played as much as I used to. I’d be more than happy to beta test this stuff. You do do great work regardless. So thank you for it.

Absolutely, this is definitely fun most of the time: I get to exercise my brain, be creative, play with cool grownup toys, help to make cool instruments and musical tools and help other people enjoy making music. It can also be very demanding work sometimes; there have been occasions where it’s been a real slog and I’ve felt like a bit of a chump (again, not SA by the way).

I do indeed love doing this very much, that said, it would also be nice to be able to start making a living from it, or at least be able to go part time in my day job so that I can do more of this sort of work and still have some free time for other stuff like playing music. I have a full time job and there have been many occasions where I’ve spent months doing my testing and manual-writing work in my work breaks and after work until the early hours of the morning. (One plus side of being off work due to cancer treatment has been that I’ve been able to do testing work without burning the candle at both ends. It’s also given me something to focus on instead of dwelling on the crappy stuff.)

I should’ve started a YouTube/demo channel years ago. I know it’s never too late. But I used to spend hours and hours on effects. Much of my time back then was work and playing bass and with pedals. I still love it. But I don’t play and experiment nearly as much as I used to. I’d love to get back into. Been trying more lately but life things and work have been rough going lately. Working a lot and life changes I mean. It’s hard to stay motivated. I’m in a transitional period in my life and it does feel like playing and pedals could help me out a lot like I used to.

Good on you quat. You most def have been an extremely valuable asset and contributor to our community.

I guess what I’m asking is, will I have to wait another month or two to get one if I don’t get in on the preorder?

It's not just preorders. Source Audio looks to have it available direct right now, and Sweetwater did have stock (looks like that is sold out and is now backordered). I'm waiting for a Canadian retailer to get it in stock before I place an order.

i think in my understanding the 7 “effect engines” aren’t discreet in the way Eventide’s algorithms are on the H9, but an easy access preset with a set of control presets that make most sense for that setup.

See I think a lofi guitar based pedal is great - and I bet that’s where the sales numbers are - but I wonder if there were 7 more bass focused ones new what they would be? (And then we just need a bass based quatschsticker on the front to remember what they are!)

I’m guessing off the top of my head…
- Filter
- Shallow water style chorus vibrato
- drive/comp and then basic cab sim with the eq
- flanger
- delay/trem
- verb/bitcrusher
- fuzz

as just starting places - it can get weirder after that

What a cool looking and sounding device. I wasn’t in the market for a Lo-fi pedal, but now maybe I should be? Seems like another machine that I’d be gleefully teasing sounds out of for many years to come. Very cool that SA has decided to use knobs which happen to be similar to the ones that many members of this forum have customized their other SA pedals with. I don’t dislike the classic knobs, but I definitely prefer these for their aesthetic and tactile response. I absolutely love the expanded controls on a pretty standard-sized box. Three cheers for dual foot switches! I’m curious to see if this is the direction they will be going from now on with their more complex pedals. If there’s enough bass interest, I could potentially put together a whole-pedal backup that replaces the 7 engines with a quatsched-out bass-focused set. (Not that I’m lacking in stuff to do already.)

I was able to order directly from you today @rsmith601 Just now in fact - a birthday present for me. I have never done an order this soon from pedal release. Will be using this with Baritone Sax, Baritone guitar with Path Metheny tuning and Bowed Upright. Also with by System 100 (by Behringer ) Skif. Should match well with the Eventide H90 for a small pedal setup
