So I have a question. I can't find any good info on it that's recent. I am
Planning on getting a source audio spectrum. I already use a Morningstar mc6 mk2 to control my future impact. Am I able to control then spectrum with a trs midi cable from the Morningstar or do I need to get that midi adapter piece?

Think you’ll need the adapter. Alternatively, you could connect the MC’s USB host port directly to the C4’s USB port for 2-way communication. (If I recall correctly, the TRS ports are out only, I may be wrong though.)

You need the SA168 to pass midi messages via TRS. It converts midi into whatever proprietary signal SA pedals use. You can control via midi USB with nothing extra.

You need the midi adapter.

Not on the mk2. Only the Pro controllers work as a usb host.

I believe the control input on the Spectrum is a TRRS jack set up for proprietary communication, not plug-n-play TRS MIDI, and Source Audio's MIDI adapter converts standard 5-pin DIN or TRS MIDI to a format the pedal can understand through its control input.

Not on the mk2. Only the Pro controllers work as a usb host.

Correct, hence why I said “usb host port” as these are clearly labelled as such on the prop models. In truth, I mistakenly misinterpreted “mkii” as “pro” (in my defence, it was past my bedtime). Thanks for catching my mistake.

A long time ago - about 50 milliseconds before now, I saw this strange looking guy and I am being a bit judgmental because I thought he was in the Spectrum. On further observation he was throwing this voices around like a ventriloquist , he corrected as threw 2 voices in unison and said, "I am better than that I am a Ventris but I know why you think I am weird because I am missing the C4 in my spine."

" Well - I saw these 2 gods, Mercury and Atlas fighting and they were so loud they produced these Ultrawaves and it was too powerful the sound went through my spine and thus no more C4. The hatred is too much- they are each other's Nemesis. And they are both Gemini birth signs too. Anyway despite the Aftershock of such a disaster , I fell in love with the LA Lady - she is the Kingmaker of Compton, no fuzz no mas . Out intimacy is so sweet , if lifts me high but alas I have Vertigo. but I persevere and hold on - love transcends everything"

Wow. This guy is out there and I asked "Who are you?" He reached out to me quickly and our hands like protons and neutrons in a Collider but magically we slowed down as if being dampened by a True Spring. He had a firm handshake that need no updates like magical code that needs no revising.

" I am Zio and by the way ..."- out of nowhere a bigger version of him appeared. ".. this is my big brother Zio DI"

"Di like Lady Diana?"

"No Di for Dimitry - by his friends call him Bass. Zio Bass"

"And what is that?" Strapped to Zio DI was a red robot like thing.

"It is an Artifakt. And we are selling it to get EQ2"

"You mean equity?"

"No EQ2, we are updating C-3P0 but keeping R2-D2. We are on our way to some Lunar explorations."

Now I have to ask but kept it to myself but I think C4 is an implant in this guy's auditory cortex and that is why he can create those poly amorous err polyphonic voices. Blox of Sounds, I know those are ancient things. "Eeny, meeny, miny, MIDI moe." And out of Reflex I thus Expressed

Well friends, That is such a weird Encounter with ventriloquist with a weird spine and brother dating a California woman, I am feeling Neuro (tic) right now and I really do not want to be a Sole Man with Hot Hands.

Several years later and after a journey of learning how to use digital effects I Just bought a C4 again…

What I learned (with a H9) is ignore the gazillion options and just narrow it down to three four things you want it to do … and enjoy that … add more later if you need.

Need to install my old presets … and find some good new ones - the good ones all start QM right??

I've owned the Aftershock for a long time now and everytime I though of a change, I connected it to PC, start Neuro Editor and find a new sound. But it's always bothered that I only have two sounds that I can switch on the fly (one red and one green preset). So a few days ago I bought Source Audio MIDI adapter, and now I can use my Boss MS-3 to control it.

Now, I may be missing something, but I'm not able to recall green presets, only three red presets. Boss only sends PC 1 and higher, while Aftershock can receive 0 and up. What that means is if I send PC 1, Aftershock will switch to preset #2.
I did some experimenting and managed to recall red presets #1, #2 and #3 by sending PC messages 4, 5, and 6 (or 5, 6, 7 - I'm not sure now).
So, do I need to experiment some more, or it's only possible to recall the red presets?

For some reason, only Output 2 has a signal coming through. I’ve tried different presets and even did a factory reset, but no luck.

• If I plug the bass into Input 1, there’s no sound from either output.
• If I plug into Input 2, I get sound from Output 2, but it’s just the dry signal with no effect.

It's the same problem with the pedal engaged or disengaged. It happened while I was editing the presets in Neuro App.
Anyone run into this before?

Did you also reinstall the firmware? If not, do so. Your problem sounds like when the pedal has been accidentally underpowered and corrupted the firmware file. If standard install doesn’t work, there’s a boot loader mode that one of the source audio team can tell you how to get into. (It might be holding the footswitch while powering on but I can’t remember for sure.)

Thanks for the suggestion. I installed the old neuro app and used it to initiate another factory reset - this partially helped - input 1 works now when the pedal is bypassed, but there's no sound as soon as I engage the pedal.

EDIT: As soon as I load the backup and edit at least one preset, the input 1 stops working. So this is probably a SW problem, as you suggested.

The install files are embedded within the editor. To find it manually might take a while as it might be a hidden directory now. Searching for “aftershock” in file explorer might locate it. Failing that, someone from SA can probably attach it here or email you it.

Yess, I've found it and reinstalled the firmware - all solved. Thanks so much, @Quatschmacher , you saved the day. I have two important gigs next week and I was getting worried I won't find a new Aftershock in time.

Glad to hear it is back in action. Happened to me once with my old Manta and I thought I’d fried it.
