Right, I'm just saying that once you get that H9, your two options are:

(1) Power HH3 receiver through another SA pedal/Hub, use MIDI through the Hub to control the H9
(2) Power HH3 receiver externally, use 1/4" expression out to the H9

I'm confused, I thought the manual says you need the external power if you want to use the 1/4" expression output?

Page 4 of the HH3 manual: "In order to send an output signal on the Expression Output, the receiver unit will need powered [sic] by the included DC adapter power supply."

I thought that's what was being referred to. Is this incorrect?

Edit: This occurs with any reverb type on the wheel. Appears the further past noon you go on the Mix, the more your output is reduced when you turn it off. That would explain my strange volume discrepancies in my presets!

Just wanted to follow up on this. I sent my pedal in to get looked at. In case anyone else was seeing the same thing with a high Mix setting, this is normal operation in Trails mode.

Basically when you are in trails mode, the footswitch works simply as a send on/off for the reverb. This means the Wet/Dry signal won't change.
A way around this would be to have a expression controller linked to the wet dry mix of the pedal.

Kind of a pain but apparently not a huge deal for most users. Ah well, still love the thing to death <3

This is why it can be risky to listen to upper management!! In most cases it is best to use the external supply when using the expression output. Sorry about that...... too bad we don't have that old icon where the guy is hiding!

I just got my BEF pro today and I could use some help getting started, this thing is a little mind boggling.
I was trying to get a sound close to the one in red hot chilipeppers falling into grace, I had it close today but lost track of the settings and got sidetracked before I could get it back, can anyone sugest some ballpark settings to get me pointed in the right direction. thanks

Based on this photo I can make a few guesses:

It appears to be in 'preset' mode or favorites, where each foot switch is dedicated to a certain patch. It also looks to have at least 2 different modes based on the mode button. I'm assuming the other modes will be a scrolling mode, similar to the mouse, and maybe something else.

It also has expression pedal input to control (cc?) through midi?? Not entirely sure that's how it does or doesn't work but that's what it looks like from my limited knowledge.

Also based on answers from Roger, it will have a program of some sort to set up things through a (PC/Mac?) via USB as an option to edit instead of the built in controls on the unit itself.

That's all I got off the top of my head.

Hey all, I'm relatively new to all of this, but that doesn't keep me from wanting to try fancy stuff.

I've got the hub, dimension reverb, manta and orbital. I want to use them live but don't want to carry a computer or ipad. I found this and ordered one. Do any of you know if I can use this, a softstep and my SA stuff to switch scenes?

I initially was in the same boat, I currently have a 10 preset with banks controller and even though it's huge I do love having all the patches available with 1 click. Ideally I'd love a more compact version with at least 6-8 presets available at a time.

However, this new SA controller looks very promising. It's designed to go along with the hub. I am also excited to size down my rig a bit as I am still on a PT JR. and would like to not have to bring extra attachments to it.

Does the soft step only send out mid via USB? That's what the ghost converter does. The video said it'll take midi over USB and send it downstream via 5pin midi out on the converter, to the midi in on the hub.

Hmmm... I'm so new to all of this. Softstep has a maddeningly cumbersome converter that turns the softstep into 5 pin. I doubt the gHost is just another converter like that. I'm hoping it plays the same role that a computer or ipad can play.

But let me ask you this: Is anyone gigging live with a midi pedal sending five pin to the hub and then straight out to the pedals? If so I could give up the gHOST, so to speak.

That's how I am running mine. I use a digitech RP-1 pedal that sends midi to the hub. The hub controls my manta and ofd. I also use the midi thru to control my line 6 m5 at the same time.

Edit: I forgot to say, that's how the hub was designed to run. Midi controller > Hub > SB2 pedals. If the soft step has 5 pin midi out then the ghost isn't necessary unless you need something to be controlled via USB. The hub can connect to a computer via USB to edit scenes with the hub manager software.
