Source Audio UltraWave ~ Catch the Wave

Had my first few gigs with the UltraWave added into my chain, and it’s working very well. So far I’ve loaded 7 different presets/sounds onto it, ranging from mild overdrive to fuzz, along with a killer sounding compressor. I’m using my Helix Floor with the Hub to switch presets on the UltraWave and my C4.

While I can’t (won’t take the time to) wrap my head around how you guys are getting these sounds, I’m very thankful that you are. They make great jumping off points for those of us who don’t want to start from scratch.

So happy to hear your experience! This is the point of the pedal and most people dont get it! :)

That is the genius of the Neuro Cloud where we all get to benefit and share, as much as I enjoy creating sounds having all those sounds created by others to sample and mod for use is just as beneficial for creating and learning.

The Neuro Cloud is certainly a success (6000 presets is rather amazing). This that said, it is remarkable to me that some folks consider the process of browsing the library an unnecessary burden. It's like someone saying that can't be troubled by a library or store of books. They would rather just pick one of ten books on their shelf over, and over and over again! At least some of you get it! :)

That’s the *beauty* of pedals like the UltraWave, C4, etc. They are as involved or simple as you want them to be.

For someone like me, the Neuro Cloud is a huge part of the draw to SA pedals. The convenience of being able to plug in my phone or laptop and browse hundreds of sounds, add potential usable ones to my library, then save the ones I want to the pedal with a couple clicks? Genius.

Yeah
It seems like a powerful tool (to me, now, it’s a fun toy lol) I’m digging the Wave while noodling around, mostly using it for clean sounds but a couple presets for getting more out there.
I’m thinking about my next SA pedal already. It seems a delay would be the most useful, but maybe any delay would be ok, and a C4 should be fun.

Not sure how messing with zip files is more advantageous than using the cloud. I think there’s a step being missed but not sure what your doing wrong.

I don't see the presets that are in the zip file that you can download here - [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] - in the cloud when I search by name (either under community or factory). I appreciate it could be me! E.g. brownie, gated fuzz, snappy compressor ..

It is possible to import each .pre file (extracted from the zip) into my device but there seems to be a feature where by the name doesn't get imported \ updated in the Neuro Desktop App so the entry is still listed as --empty-- but I can see that the settings have changed. I just need to do a "save as" to update the name.

When I try and do a device, load device backup I get an error that the Bankup File doesn't match the selected device although I then get a message that the backup loaded successfully.

Software seems to have a few quirks but a great pedal and a lot of learning to do.

I had a little issue with my phone, can’t really remember since I was winging it and didn’t really know what I was doing.
then I plugged the pedal in Bro the computer and rearranged the order. Any you want to use have to be renamed into the top six slots, unless you have some kind of midi device or switch. after that it seemed the same on the phone and the computer.
Myra, sorry. That wasn’t really helpful.

I agree that moving presets around via the Neuro Desktop App and saving them from the cloud is very straight forward. I've no problem with that or re-naming them (or even in creating a backup). My only challenge with managing presets is with the presets contained in the link ---> [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

1. These presets don't seem to be in the cloud. I certainly can't find them when I search by name.

2. @Rick Penrose had mentioned on the previous page that he couldn't import the zip file (backup) and I can't either. I get an error that the "Backup File doesn't match the selected device" although I then get a message that "the backup loaded successfully". It doesn't appear to have loaded succesfully. It probably isn't something to try if you've made lots of changes to presets on your device as I'm guessing that the import backup will override anything that you already have on the device.

3. When importing the presets from the download one by one; the name of the slot I'm using doesn't change in the editor. So if I'm importing into an --empty-- slot then the name stays as --empty-- rather than taking on the name of the preset. The actual configuration does import - I can see the settings change in the editor. It is just the name that doesn't seem to update and I need to do a Save \ Save As to get the name configured. It is a minor issue but imo it should be an unncessary step - if I click save it should (again, imo) have the name pre-populated just as it does when burn a preset from the cloud to the drive ... all you do is choose a memory location on the device.

Looking at the .pre file from the downloads; there doesn't seem to be a Name or Title tag which perhaps explains why the name \ title doesn't update in the Neuro Desktop. Not sure if @rsmith601 can help? It is a minor point and doesn't detract from the device at all but I suspect the zip file on the website has an issue which means it can't import (perhaps something small changed between the beta and final release).

@NPappas - can you look at this? Thanks!

Thanks - for further information:

1. I'm using Neuro Desktop 0.8.38 and Ultrawave Bass Firmware version 1.10 on macOS Monterey 12.1 - I think this is the latest version of all software \ firmware.

2. Importing zip file via Desktop --> Device --> Load Backup Device --> Browse to Ultrawave_PresetPackage.osbf (extracted from zip file) results in the message boxes as per the attachments (StatesError.png and StatesOK.png).

3. Importing individual presets from zip file --> I have slot 40 selected and it has the default name of --empty-- (asterix next to it confirms - I believe - that this is the slot selected). If I choose a preset and click "open" then the configuration windows does update (e.g. the compression settings \ values change) but the name stays as --empty-- I appreciate I must click on Save to save the settings but it then prompts me for a name for the preset (as if I had selected Save As). I suspect this is by design as I can't see a name \ title tag in the .pre file which would be useful so that the window was pre-populated with the correct name.

4. The presetsfromzipfile.png file shows the list of presets in the zip file you can download from here - [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] - I don't see them in the cloud. Is it me? Is it by design?

Thanks. As I've said; this is one amazing pedal. I'm just trying to figure out how things work and want to make sure it isn't just me hitting the wrong keys.

Hi all!
I'm just about to purchase the Ultrawave and I've been wondering: I'd love to be able to make some stutter effects a la Ottobit Jr. Has someone tried something like this?
I think this very musical stuttering effect requieres the possibility to randomize within a certain tempo/division. Maybe faking it with an exp pedal?
I'd love to know if someone tried it. Thanks!

Bump with a purpose...
Published two sounds today I'm particularly happy with.

Hammer FingaZ is a funky organ/clav sounding patch that will work well for a bass or lead line. My tribute to all the funky Clav, Harpsichord and organ slingers like Bernie Worrall, Stevie Wonder, Isaac Hayes and my former band mate and mentor Dwight Champaign aka OC. Pluck, slap or pop it has got to be phunky.

Dogman is a driving articulate tone inspired by dUg Pinnock that hits like a run away tank but stops on a dime.

Enjoy.

I wish I could help you and was looking forward to an answer as the LFO sections on all the SA pedals are still a bit of a mystery to me, which I now have 3 of. The LFO might as well be No Man's Land as each time I try it seems to be a disaster. Help!

For those in the know, is it possible to cop the Brimstone Audio XD-2 sound / feel with the UW? I have not owned the Brimstone, but it has always interested me. I am still (starting) to learn how to use the editor. I love my C4 and UW but there is a big learning curve.
I know and feel that it's worth learning how to use the editor, but it is a little intimidating.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Matt

hello Gramski....was there ever a solution found for this problem?

Hi Rick - no; I never heard back from the Source Audio team but it hasn't been an issue otherwise I would have followed up.

There are plenty of presets available via the cloud and I'm loving the flexibility \ range of tones I can get from the Ultrawave. I've hooked it up to a Neuro Hub and an MC6 to be able to access 128 presets when it isn't connected to the computer \ desktop app and and I'm really happy with the pedal (it was my first though I have also now purchased a Gemini to keep it company).

Cheers

Graham

I have the same pair.
eventually I will have time to play with them and find some presets that play well together.

Thanks Gramski, not a deal breaker I agree...just wanted to follow up as I thought I was doing wrong. Thanks
