Looks like Musk's pet lunar lander just face planted, hit the lunar surface at around 355kph. Just so thrilled he's having such a wonderful day! Ha Ha! :roflmao:

The lander that arrived today (one way or another) was not "Elon's." It hitched a ride on a SpaceX rocket, but the lander itself is built & owned by a privately-held Japanese company. The rocket was just the taxi.

ah ok, thanks for the clarification. Not Elon's. I'll stop celebrating...
 
I'm shocked that I'm the first to leave a note here about the big blowup with last night's static fire test attempt. That didn't even get to intentionally lighting the candle before....

Am I missing something? Did y'all move on elsewhere?

Some interesting comments on the Ars Technica article to the effect that there is not much institutional knowledge anymore at SpaceX for some time now.

I must admit I have mixed feelings about the progress with SSv2.

Austrian extreme sports pioneer Felix Baumgartner, famed for a record-breaking 2012 skydive from the edge of space, has died in a paragliding accident in central Italy, local police said.
