Yeah, as with any large-scale scientific pursuit, it's never had an easy ride financially.Completely understood. Yeah, it does suck. I wonder where or if they'll get the funds to do the repairs. I think there was a move to close Arecibo a year or three ago. I hope that doesn't happen.
I saw a pretty good one 3 days ago....dropped in vertically right down to the trees on the horizon. It left a decent trail but gone in a flash!Same for me. Has anyone seen any good fireballs?
I love the look of that Dream Chaser ship, and I'm there is a place for it among all the initiatives. But that project has been going on for a long time. I would have expected real results already.
I also would have liked to see the X-37B in the mix. It was a project that was started, scrapped, then recovered, and now used exclusively by the Air/Space Force. It already has logged many years of travel. I would think it would be very cost effective to apply that same design to other uses.
I would guess that there are "reasons" why X-37B technology isn't shared.
