I'm surprised how expensive it is. If they aim to bring internet to parts of the world that don't have it, those kinds of prices are going to be out of reach for many people in those areas.

It could well be those rates will be the "subsidy" (in essence, if not in name) that supports expansion into less profitable markets.

I had no idea iron and nickel were so hard to get. The price tag on nickle would drop to almost nothing if some space aliens lassoed it down here for us.
