That'd be a bummer to get all the way there and find out they thought wrong.

Ugh. That's the catch when a cable suspension system starts to come apart. If one goes, the others take on more weight, then if/when another one goes, it can turn into a slow-motion set of dominoes.

Especially as it would take us 540,000 years to get to any of the nearest four candidates...

I'm going to go out on a limb, and suggest that it may be impractical to do a remix of that Stones track, that lasts the full duration of that interstellar flight.
