SpaceX and other space stuff

Wow, thanks for that, I didn't watch that feed with the engine cam, excellent! Just couldn't get that 3rd engine lit in time!
From what I read/understand...the engines did exactly as programmed. It was supposed to land with one engine. Even going up, the engines we’re supposed to shut off one by one. They’ll figure it out.

A little problem with SN9...

It's interesting to see this. I need to read up more. My snap judgement is that - they have been at this a long time, and I'm not sure that when they say "space" they really really mean it. Sounds like a plan that sorta kinda goes a little bit higher. But not a vehicle that actually legitimately reaches low earth orbit.

Lots of different news blips on this over the years, yet not a whole lot of substance, IMHO. Will check out the proceedings.

Yeah, last I knew, they were targeting sub-orbital tourism flights. I don't think I've heard of any plans for them to scale up and go higher. Maybe when there are more destinations to visit. :)

They were never intended for orbital flight. There was also a crash of SpaceShipTwo in 2014 that set them back a number of years. These are all an outgrowth of Burt Rutan/Scaled Composites SpaceShipOne that won the Ansari X Prize in 2004. Burt Rutan was one hell of an aeronautical engineer and designer.
