Speakers suggestion for a 2x10" cab "5-strings bass" oriented

I've made a simulation using that speaker and I obtained a higher response in the range 30-60 Hz (113 dB vs 107 dB @ 250 Watt) but then the BP102 gets over 120 dB from 70 Hz on (the peak is almost 125 dB at about 180 Hz) but that's normal considered that the XLS10 is given as an Hif-Fi subwoofer.
What I'm trying to build is something half-way between a subwoofer and a midbass.

PS: in the future I would like to build two 3 ways loudspeakers for my hi-fi and I will consider that speaker as a candidate for the "bass section".
 
I started to draw the frontal panel with Autocad and I had to increase the height to fit 10" speakers, the "inner box" for the Alpha6 and the reflex ports (see the image).



I was wondering...which is the difference to put the reflex ports in the frontal panel or in the bottom panel ("downfiring") ?

Your center to center distance between the tens should be no more than one wavelength at the crossover frequency. Even then their dispersion angle will be less than if placed vertical. And the higher the cab the easier to hear the mids. The port direction is immaterial, although down firing with precise engineering you can make the port 'external', using the space between the floor and cab as the duct, reducing the cabinet internal volume.
I have built a single, ported, 30 litre enclosure using the Peerless XLS10, with fantastic results.
The XLS has very low sensitivity, so even with its high xmax it's limited to a maximum output of 106dB at 40 Hz. The BP102 will give the same output, but with 100 watts less power.
 
The "center-to-center" distance between the tens is about 340 mm, considering that the wavelength at 500 Hz (xover frequency) is 689 mm, so it should be ok, right?
And if I understood it, it would be better to put woofers "vertically aligned" rather than "diagonal" as I did, right?
 
I modified the layout as in the attached image (forgive me BassPaul ;) ).
The distance now between tens center is about 280 mm.
Should I put the mid box in the center of the panel? In this case the reflex ports would be fit one on the left and one on the right side of the mid box but if the their distance between walls would be less than 50 mm I could put them in the rear panel.

Look up the definition of 'vertical'; you have them horizontal. Not exceeding the maximum center to center distance eliminates comb filtering, but not the halved dispersion when drivers are placed side by side. Nor does it get the midrange driver closer to your ears.
 
The cab rotated 90° is slightly smaller than my amp head flycase and than the 1x15" so it's not a problem to keep this orientation.
I wouldn't like to increase more the dimensions, it's almost as big as the 1x15" so I think I'll keep this size (W 600 x H 520 x D 350 mm, the 1x15" is W 600 x H 600 x D 430 mm).

Ah ok...sorry I didn't get the exact meaning of your sentence (the one that I quoted in my previous reply).

A question regarding filling the box with dumping material...I've read several times that the wall behind the reflex port(s) shouldn't be filled, in my case then should I keep the rear wall completely free of dumping material (except for the top, bottom and side walls) or only the surface right behind the ports? (the rear end of the reflex ports is at 69 mm from the rear wall).
Should I fill also the midrange box?

Line the cabinet completely, just don't block the ports. Midrange box too.
 
This is how the final layout could be (I know it's the same layout of Sundogue's cabs, but I'm trying to keep the "size" of the cab as compact and light as I can having a fixed dimension to fit with the 1x15") but I was wondering:
can woofers be considered vertically aligned even if their center is not on the same line?
Is a good "dispersion" assured with the attached layout?
Reflex ports will be on the rear panel.

The definition of vertical is when their centers are on the same line.

Better than horizontal drivers, not as good as vertical.
I'm trying to keep the "size" of the cab... having a fixed dimension to fit with the 1x15"
Sizing the cab to look good at the expense of sounding good has always been the number one fault seen in multi-driver cabs.

That is the best layout. Now the decision is which do you prefer, looking better or sounding better? In the case of commercial cabs looking better dominates, because looks is what sells. You don't have that concern.
 
These are two pics of the "work-in-progress" box, I used poplar plywood (20 mm).
Now I'm at the "bracing phase" but before proceeding I would like some confirm.
I thought to add braces (20x20 mm made of the same wood of the box) according with the scheme in the pic: in black the braces to "reinforce" the box, in green the braces where the front panel will be glued (one also on the top panel that is not visible).
Are those braces enough? What do you suggest?
