Still waiting on a long drill bit to do the truss rod hole into the body. Don't want to attach the fretboard to the neck until I know for sure the truss rod is going to work right.
So, no neck shaping yet.
Lots of body sanding today prepping for pore fill.

Yay! Drill bits came today!

Also started pore filling. I'm going to french polish this bass, but I've been doing the pore fill with solarez "i can't believe its not lacquer grain filler". It's a UV cure, and it's supposed to work by just holding it in the sun for a few minutes. I haven't found the sunlight thing works very well, but I do have an old metal halide fish tank light - if you use a bulb suitable for growing corals it will cure in a few minutes.

Nice. The one time I tried SolarEZ was a cloudy day and it cured pretty quickly just by taking it outside. I think I left it maybe 5 minutes then coated the other side and another 5. That was a fabric top and it filled the “pores” or grain of the fabric in 2 coats.

Hmmm, maybe I didnt leave it out there long enough, got a couple more coats for the side to do tomorrow

I got good results from SolarEZ when i used it too. I had it outside for about 15 minutes in the sun.

Got the neck carved. This tiny spokeshave is my favorite neck carving tool

Here it is, needs some finish sanding and a little cleanup, but I'm pretty happy with it

The backstrap is looking like Groot now that it's shaped
