I can't afford an USA model, but I find an Euro SSD NS-2 (maybe 1994, no S/N), with EMG P/J configuration that can fit my needs.

Unfortunately I have traded with my loved Fender Aerodyne Export, but rules in my family are: 1 bass enter --> 1 bass must exit :rollno:

The bass is in discrete cosmetic conditions (2 small dents and some scratches), but I'm not a feticist so this is not a problem.

Tomorrow will test with my band, can't wait.

Never played anything from them bass-wise, though I have always wanted an Orange tube amp and cab setup since getting into Black Sabbath, love the fat dirty sound.

I did pick up a used Orange Crush 30R for dirt cheap to use with my guitar, the onboard distortion is pretty lame (most digital distortions are) but it is independent from the volume/EQ/gain so I usually just crank up the gain and get distortion from that.

It was cheap and sounds great for the size, I would expect bass combos to be as good but can't say from experience.

Thanks John! I had a Line6 Lowdown 110 that just wasn't hacking it. Originally bought for play acoustic bass at barbecues...sold the acoustic. Sold line6. Bought an Ampeg BA-112 to use as a stage bass monitor for playing at church. Got damaged during shipping. Useable though...thought I'd take $$ from claim and buy another, but...I'm thinking of buying a used SPECTOR 5 string from GC instead. :D Because...I'm really really really SASing for a 5er and won't be getting my Forte 5 till April!!!

He sent me 2 also...one brass and another out of bone. He's a great guy and doing great things for children musically!

Whoa Rockstarbassist! Did you do that for down tuning reason? Are the string a little on the loose side? I've been toying with the idea of going larger diameter on my E & A strings on my 4 string and B/E/A on my 5er. Does it give a bigger/deeper tone in standard tuning? Thanks!

Ice, I believe Rockstarbassist is tunning down and that is also the reason why I went with a much thicker B string as well. I originally installed DR Lo Riders which are stiffer strings to begin with and used a .130 B string but when I tuned the bass down a full step, the strings became way too floppy and I didn't like the feel.

I messaged Jason from Bassstringsonline and he was super helpful to me and suggested the specific sizes that would work well in my situation. He really is a great guy and took the time to answer all my dumb questions :)

Paolo that's a sweet bass! Welcome :) Also after I finish saving up to buy a good GK half stack, I will be saving up for a new Spector. I'm trying to decide between a Rex pro 5 and a Legend classic 5. I want active pickups but with a high schooler's budget. Eventually I want a Rex (pro or not) but it depends on how long I want to wait

So his bass has the original Haz copy with the original Spector pickups. He has worn out the pots in the preamp, the local repair man says he can't find new pots, he says they are some weird value that he can't find a replacement for.

Anyone know about this? Can he replace the pots? Where could he find them? Or does he have to replace the who preamp? Anyone have a Haz copy for sale?

It may be a Samick verison then?

Just confirm because the pots may be different in the the Samick vs, the original NS-2As.

The board itself will be a different configuration since the knob placements are different. (The Samick has 2 knobs that are parallel with the bridge)

If you didnt see the bass, a few ways to find out which version he has is to ask;

If there is a ser# on the the back of the headstock, its a Samick.

If it doesnt have Schaller tuners its probably a Samick

If the bridge doesnt say Spector on it, its probably a Samick.

If he has a non-Samick NS-2A then I think the Mighty Might Haz clone would work.

Nope, Spector, identical to mine with the diamond knobs....

Here's what u got from PJ about mine:

by that serial number, it was made in 1991 in Korea, near the very end
of production. most had a serial number starting with NS on the back
control cover plate, FYI.

The Rex pro being NT is a big step up from the legend classic imo. If your looking at legend classics you may want to keep an eye out for an NS 2000/5. They are the older NT version of the custom. I have a NS2000/4 I like a lot , and it was my main bass for a wile. The REX is a good bass also. Big body , solid bass, a little neck heavy ( mine wanted to sit at 90 deg. But a good strap fixes all) . Upper fret access is better on the legend /ns2000 imo. But I don't spend a lot of time there unless playing solo type stuff.
