I GOT IT. I have a beautiful NS20005 on its way to me. I had NO IDEA the Korean models came in this gorgeous color!!

Here is a pic from the sale, I hate black "sunburst" for its abrupt transition from black to orange, but this is a red to yellow burst with a nice smooth transition and just looks...awesome. :hyper:

Now I'm safe from my S.A.S. for another few months... :D

I was hoping it was a club member that got this. I put in a bid, but it went higher that I was willing to go for that bass in that condition. I hope you enjoy it.

Congrats, great score :bassist:

While I await my 1st Spector I'm wondering what seems to be the favorite string to get that Spector "growl"? I've been a Roto 66 kind of guy forever and been pretty happy for the most part. I also have a set of Circle k's around I may try. Any other fav's of you guys? I know it's a personal taste, but just thougt I would throw it out. Hopefully my Spector Legend 5 will be in my hands by early next week.:hyper: I can't wait.

I have DR Fat Beams on my Legend. I use it as my "modern sounding" bass, while I have LaBella flats on my P bass for the vintage vibe.

Since my Legend has the older EMG 3-band preamp, I find I can get a lot of really good slap tones (aided by the Marcus Miller strings, of course) out of it by playing with the mids as well as some great sound for playing up high and soloing. And of course there's the Spector growl that everyone loves.

Also, they last FOREVER as far as SS rounds go.

Here are some string comparisons that I did with my Forte.

Different bass, but atleast you can hear the differences of each string.

IMHO DR HI Beams, DR Lo Riders, Dean Markley Blue Steels and Dunlop Steels give the best growl.

Just wanted to show an updated Spector family photo :hiding:

I think I'm going to try...... well whatever Lima is done with :hiding:

So report on the NS4CRFM tonight..... WOW!!! The drummer says... "is it suppose to sound better? Because it does" This thing growls for days. It just plays better in every way. I'm very happy with it. We have a couple more songs almost wrapped up too, it was a great practice

Well, if you like Circle K...
Try some 7-11's...

No, I got another one and I'm trying to duplicate the one I got from you but something is off and me and my tech can't figure it out. Thought I'd come to where the guys who know things like this hang out.

Great!!..I tried it myself on the red one I sold you and couldn't get it right....I brought it to Knoll guitars in Rhode Island.

Dude. That's awesome! Ive gassed over one of those in orange since I became a between the buried and me fan! :bassist:
Enjoy it in good health!

If you ever wanna part with her, I hope you'll shoot me a PM (and that I'll have the cash on hand, lol)

Check the clips at the pickups. I believe the little arrow on one side of the clip should be facing you. I had mine on backwards at first and they did the same type of thing.

I dont think the pump is bad, did you make sure it's not at 0 as well?

Yeah don't sweat it, we'll get ya taken care of here. Then you get to hear "the tone" :) it's a proud moment :)

check the diagram ( diag 1) here and note the little arrow on the clip.

Lenny he knows the "Tone"...he has it from the one he bought from me. Hence the reason he is trying to duplicate it with this Spector NS2a. :bassist::bassist:

Hey Quitter: Could it be a dead battery? Sounds like the tone you get when you've got a dead battery.

We tried two new batteries out of the box. But that is exactly the sound that it's making. Dead battery sound. Thx for the input!

That was he last suggestion before he kicked me out last night. Go find somebody else. LOL!

That Sucks!!..good luck bro.

Thanks, man. Tracing this back, it's kinda your fault for selling me such a great bass that I had to try and duplicate it...

Truth!

thanks again, guys. I'm going over there tonight to check all of your suggestions. I don't remember seeing any arrows on the pickup clips so I'm hoping that's what it is. You know you'll all know when I find out!!

I use CK's - I mix and match to facilitate my ACGCF tuning, but it's basically the dropped .124 set with a low .158 B. Just ordered a new set and should be here next week, right in time to string up Brownie and lay down some tracks.
Had to have my tech widen the nut for the B and E string but since they're tapered, no issues on the bridge thankfully.

Ernie Balls are my backups in a pinch, usually.
