Technically his is an NS2000/Q5 but hey, who's complaining! :D
His is the bolt-on model of the 2000/5.

You are correct on the color. I'm not the world's largest BTBAM fan, although their newest 3-song EP was a huge step in the right direction of having more "focused" songs, and I heard that he used his NS-5XL and a fretless model of the same on the record, but still tours w/ this Q5. It sounds great even in those dense-@ss mixes.

Mt last set were the Sadowsky black label steels. Very very growly

Ahhh, so that's what it is. I've hear various things from various sources as to what he plays. He sounds amazing regardless. I'm still trying to work my way through the 'fugue' section of obfuscation.

i have a trans red rex5 , i love it . its all rock and roll ! has neck dive , but not horrible with a wide leather strap . get it and rock it !!!


i know that euro has some issues cosmetically , but 500 bucks was just crazy good deal !!! and the wood was awesome !!!

Had to have my tech widen the nut for the B and E string but since they're tapered, no issues on the bridge thankfully.

Ernie Balls are my backups in a pinch, usually.

Wow.. I don't think I could ever get used to a .158!

Maybe my hands are too wimpy... But even for my low A I use a .135 lol

Then again.... I've gotten so used to playing the lower tension of a down tuned set.. That when I tuned my rex5 to standard I thought I was going to snap my neck because the tension was so unfamiliar to me hah

bro, believe me, CK's are as close to magic metal as you can get haha
i had a set of DR DDT's on Brownie before getting my bass set up with these strings, and my .158 has easily lower and lighter tension than the E string does of the DDT set.
it makes all the difference in the world. it really wouldn't take you more than a full rehearsal or two to get used to it.

I've got Rotobass 45 nickels on my Euro, growly with mellower top end.

See, that's the part I don't get... If not for the tension... Why get the thicker strings? It's mainly my fretting hand that hates thicker strings.

Clear and articulate notes when downtuned. When I hit that 1st fret Bb, I can totally hear the actual "note", just not a thud. Same for my E string. I haven't been able to find that kind of clarity in other strings when tuned that low.

I haven't had an issue with getting my low A to come out clear but then again... I play a bit odd I guess.

Might have to try out the Circle K set to see what I can get. I might be spoiled but paying that much for a set of strings kills me lol

It's a little more I agree, but, my other alternative is building a DR Lo Rider SS set with the .110-.50 heavies, then adding a .130 low B, so really the price isn't a "whole" lot more, maybe $10 and for me I change strings about every 5-6 mo's, so the difference in tone and playability is worth that $2 a month I about.... ;)

EDIT: Actually I just checked and for my CK set of the .124 + .158 vs. my "custom" made DR Lo Rider set, the difference is only $4.81.
DR's are expensive anyway so. :)

LOL LOL gotcha !!! i really wanted that bass , even though it it a 4 . still wanted it . had a 5 just like it , looked great on stage . but then again , dont all spectors ??

i know it will burn up a thread or at least a ton of pages , but it would be cool for everyone to list all the spectors they have had . i dont have pics of all that i have owned , but pretty sure i could list out all of them with models and colors . anyone else wanna play ?
