Not Spector related , but my drummer has in his possession at this time an all original in extremely good shape ampeg svt BLUE line head and matching 810 cab !!!!! Amp and cab were bought together and stayed together all this time . He's gonna let me do a show with it soon ! I'll give a report .

On another note I gigged with the yorkville 400b sat night and was blown away with it . Sounds like a nice mix between a gk 800rb and a svt3 pro . I have to admit the yorkie sounds better than the markbass lm3 .

It's not his , but he is a great bass player also . He has a sun 300t tube head with a Mesa 210 and 215 . Also has a swr sm500 and Henry the 8x8 . Both awesome rigs . And now he is the proud owner of my cherry burst ns2a !!!!

I'm receiving a cherry burst NS-2A on Wednesday... to go with my white one.

I also picked up a used set of active EMG P/J with the BQC 3-band eq (for $85 total) and that'll go into one of the NS-2A basses.

I'll have one NS-2A with the passive Spector pickup Korean 9V copy preamp... and one with the active EMG setup.

Should make for a dynamic duo.

I went with the EMG because I got the whole setup for less than the cost of a Tone Pump.

I'm taking it out to put in active EMGs. I'll have one NS-2A with the passive Spector pickup Korean 9V copy preamp... and one with the EMG setup. Should make for a dynamic duo.

I went with the EMG because I got the whole setup for less than the cost of a Tone Pump.

you can use active EMGs and the Haz copy. In fact it sounds amazing..... I would highly encourage you to do that!

I've read a few conflicting threads on this very topic. Some sources suggest that the pots on the Korean 9V preamp copy would need to be replaced with four pots of the correct (lower) values to work properly with low-impedance active EMG pickups.

Other sources suggest that you can simply replace the passive "Spector" pickups with the active EMG pickups and enjoy.

I'm no electrical engineer, but I read that the 9V USA preamp comes with different (lower value) pots than the Korean preamp, so I thought the pot value might be a real concern.

I would like to get some clarification on this.

Ya I've seen those threads.... I believe Limaguy has active pups with his haz copy.... I have active pups on a mighty might copy...

What preamp were you going to go with? Or just the stock EMG pots that come with the pups?

I picked up a used set of EMG active P/J with a BQC (3-band) preamp set up for Vol, Vol, stacked treb/bass, stacked mid boost-cut/mid-freq. The whole package was only $85 so I couldn't pass it up.

I've got a Gould bass with an active EMG MMTWX that I could install the BQC preamp in.

They work fine together as is. We do it here all day long
